Best rum I've ever had was the last one.
The best rum I haven't tried yet is the next one.

I drank a lot of "Dirty Bananas" the first 3 days I was there & they had no effect what-so-ever! Reverted to my Ole faithful Jack-n-Coke - That did the trick only too well...LOL

Try out Zaya. It's from Trinidad. More and more places are starting to carry it. High ball glass and a couple ice cubes, don't ruin it with a mixer. Local licqour store can't keep enough in stock.

    1 ounce lime juice
1 fluid ounce 151 proof rum (most folks I know use a dark rum here instead of 151)

In a shaker ( or blender if you want frozen ), combine ice, light rum, passion fruit syrup, lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage and lime juice. Shake well and pour mixture into a Hurricane or other large specialty glass. Float the 151 proof rum on top of the drink.
I thought a Nawlin's Hurricane required three types of rum....light rum. dark rum, and overproof rum. I use Biccardi silver rum, Myers dark rum, and Wray Nephew overproof rum to make Hurricanes at home.

At home, Captain Morgan's spiced rum for mixing with carbonated beverages. Captain Morgan's private stock for sipping/shots.

In Jamaica, Appletons Especial for mixing. I try not to drink shots in Jamaica.....

Depends on what I am doing with the rum. Appleton Special for most drinking mixed however not always. VX when I want to taste the rum in a mixed drink where RUM is the largest by volume in the mix and Coruba dark when I am cooking with it.
There is a dark rum made in Baltimore that I also like for cooking with but for the life of me can not remember the name right now.

At the risk of reviving this thread, I am a Captn M guy. Is there a Jamaican equivilant? Understanding CM is not necessarily the same as Jamaican dark rum. I have had many rums. I appreciate the Jamaican dark rums but love to drink my CM.

Mt. Gay for mixing, Pritchard's for sipping. I don't care for The Captain. A fun drink is Malibu Rum with pineapple juice.

We got a bottle of the Zaya yesterday and it's very good. Big vanilla flavor and exceptionally smooth. The Mt. Gay Eclipse is her regular, but her favorite is the Mt. Gay Extra Old.
