Angry Do you guys consider H2 a nudist resort or swingers resort?

I found this posted on another site...

If you consider those to be nudist resorts, I can understand why you might view Sea Mountain Inn as one.

Until fairly recently, the term "nudist resort" didn't mean "a resort where you can be nude", but instead "a resort that subscribes to the nudist philosophy". More recently, however, this term has been co-opted by non-nudists to also describe their resorts, so long as people can go nude. Unfortunately, this is significantly undermining the decades-long struggle of the naturist community to fight the "nudity = sex" view that so much of the US population has. In the long term, this isn't good for either group because if it takes down nudism, they're next! There's been talk of having a "summit" between the leaders of nudist and lifestyle groups to try to address these issues and I hope it happens.

So my answer is I feel Hedo is a little bit of both. Both can go and coexist there and most the time I don't see it as an issue. An actual "nudist" resort with families there kinda creeps me out to be honest. I don't want to see children naked, I don't want to see families naked together.

    That's just me...

I think you answered your own question. Hedo, by definition, is not a nudist resort. They don't subscribe to any of the nudist philosophies at all. Just because the swinger community has co-opted their term doesn't change the definition, in my mind. H2 is most definitely not a nudist resort. I don't think I'd say it's a swingers resort, either, since that's not the primary function of the resort, unlike other places. (Swing clubs in the US, for example).

In my mind, it's a clothing optional resort with a bunch of crazy & wild people.
Like you, I don't want to see naked families together, I find that kinda creepy. On the other hand,
I don't want to see hoards of people pool side going at it all day and night like the fuck squad I saw our first year. Thankfully, it was just a group of 4 couples.

I tell people that Hedo is a mainstream resort in Jamaica owned by one of the largest hotel groups in the Caribbean that has a clothed area as well as a nude area.. The resort has never been billed as a nudist resort or a lifestyle friendly resort. Desire, on the other hand, says on its web site that it is a lifestyle friendly resort.

We feel that Hedo is not a nudist resort, nor is it a swingers resort, for the simple fact that we are not nudist, (by definition), nor swingers. So we think that Hedo is, an all-inclusive, all-adult, summer camp that has really cool camp counselors, (ie Delroy, Scumba, Winston, etc). See all in July

Wife & I are nudist, go to nudist resorts a few time a year, but we like the freedom that Hedo lets us have. For nudist try almost too hard to separate nudity and sex.. We love the "dress up" nights at Hedo, you try some of that at a nudist resort and they will lose their AANR status. We are OK nude, but don't try a wet t-shirt contest, no "school girl" outfits!! So we like both, Hedo & Nudist resorts.. And we don't swing, no need to travel all the way down to jamaica just for that.

    World English Dictionary
hedonism (ˈhiːd ə ˌnɪzəm, ˈhɛd-) [Click for IPA pronunciation guide]

    — n
    1. ethics
    a. See utilitarianism the doctrine that moral value can be defined in terms of pleasure
    b. the doctrine that the pursuit of pleasure is the highest good
    2. the pursuit of pleasure as a matter of principle
    3. indulgence in sensual pleasures

    [C19: from Greek hēdonē pleasure]

So based on this I'm ruling out Nudist resort, but that doesn't make it a swinger resort either. I would say that it's a resort that specializes in the indulgence of pleasure that both swingers and some nudists appreciate. We are swingers and love that many swingers do attend.

fantastic description - never had so much sexy fun on holiday ever despite some of the bricks & mortar being tired - it is an adult adventure holiday - you can be as adventurous as you like & getting naked is just part of the fun. We aren't swingers but both enjoy taking the flirting to a new level!

cant wait to get back - March next year

We had our 1st (but not last) trip to Hedo in september. We are not swingers and this was the 1st time to a clothing optional resort. There is nudity, there are PDA's, there are swingers. But...the one thing that I discovered is that Hedo has to be the most friendly place in the WORLD. Because you don't swing doesn't mean you are shut out, your not presured into anything and you advance at your pace. I personally don't think this is due to any labels, location or the resort itself. The people that go are the ones that make it what it is. The only proper label to put on Hedo I feel is a "have fun, be youself, no regrets, no inhabitions bunch of grown up kids out to have a great time resort". If you don't have fun (whatever your into) you only have yourself to blame.

Scott-n-bobbi, I agree with you 100%. Why do people need to pigeon hole things. H2 is what it is, and what we make it. Never met a more friendly bunch of people at any other resort.
Been twice, and booked again for April 2011.
