    Room upgrades

I have seen it mentioend a few times on the different message boards we have joined that when people arrive to check in they ask for a free room upgrade. Is this norm? Do most people do it, and why do they(the resort) give you a better room for the same price whats in it for them?

Just curious, is this something we should do when we arrive as well?

We received a free room upgrade at H2 last year from Gardenview Prude to Oceanview Prude. Really nice. We didn't request the upgrade so we are assuming they overbooked our room category. We intend on 'requesting' an upgrade at H3 this year if one is available, but honestly we will be plenty content with any room type because your at Hedo and not in your room very much.

In seven trips home, we've booked gardenview prude every time and have always gotten an upgrade to the nude side. Three times we even got oceanview nude. Can't hurt to be friendly to the nice folks at registration and ask!

It never hurts to ask. Sometimes they'll upgrade you for free, sometimes you can pay a little more...sometimes no luck. But a friendly smile and being flexible about maybe changing rooms in a day or two (if you're staying long enough) and it just might happen. We've been booking the cheapest room the last few trips and hoping for the best...not much luck with upgrades lately...but we still ask. : )

I wouldnt mind paying extra for an Ocean view. I wonder what the price difference would be.

I think the actual price difference at the time would have been around $25 more per person per night. You should be able to check with your TA or call Superclubs. Toodles

I've wondered this too. This will be our first time going as well.

It's the Carribbean, try bribery, LOL, Chocolate works good, expensive perfume, consumer electronics might work. Hand lotion and oh yea cash, LOL. They all work at different times in different situations.

    Was that any help?

    Cheers

    Upgrade

We booked prude ocean view, but when we checked in we just asked nicely if they had a really nice room available. They put us just steps away from the nude pool and hot tub..........

I too always ask for a free upgrade. Just be nice to the front desk person and you never know.I have received an upgrade every time I asked. In March I went from GVP to GVN, at H2 the walk is longer, but I don't mind walking a little bit more. Bob
