    Summary on the team's origins

In Spring 2005 while shopping for dune buggies in an Edmonton garage, Danny Melville spotted a crazy looking dogsled and had an epiphany... He was going to give Jamaica its very own Dogsled Team!

A collection of unwanted mongrels were adopted from the JSPCA, given a great home and a new lease on life as members of this ground breaking team.

Then Danny mentioned his plan to entertainer and entrepreneur Jimmy Buffett who loved the idea so much he volunteered to be the team’s sponsor & godfather

But it is not just the dogs that are given a second chance. The team’s dog mushers are given the opportunity of a lifetime as they cultivate their love of animals while receiving an education and traveling the world.

    From the Facebook team Page:

Newton arrived to a fanfare and left silently. The first thing he said in Galena was "I'm only staying for five hours." After a grueling drive down the Yukon River just a few hours ago Newton is back on it. He fed the dogs, fed himself, slept for one hour, hooked up his team and took off in the sunset. The drive to Nulato can be 6 to 8 hours so Newton hopefully will arrive sometime around 3:30am.
