Problems with Hedonism.com

Is anyone else having a problem getting into www.hedonism.com it's routing me to somewhere else...

the hedonism.com domain doesn't expire until June 21, 2010, so they didn't let their domain lapse.

My local DNS servers resolve hedonism.com to the same IP as those ultimately responsible for the domain, so for me at least, there's no DNS problem.

Doing a HTTP trace in Fiddler says that their web server is directly returning the default page of http://www.hedonism.com/index.html. No 302 redirects.

The page that's returned is the same one that you get when you hit their IP directly at http://204.92.106.244. This leads me to one of two conclusions:

1) They or their webhost deliberately took down the site so we're getting that server/site's default page.

OR

2) Somewhat more likely, some foolish webadmin messed up the www.hedonism.com site's host headers in IIS6.0.

Why you ask am I bothering with all this research? Because in 6 hours, we leave for the airport for H2, and I cannot sleep a WINK! Gotta pass the time somehow.

I'm not a web dev, just a geek, but you got me curious, so I did some hunting.

Looks like 2 is the best bet, as the server for Hedonism.com is Win 2003, while the 4Hedonism.com (different web hosting company) is Linux. This according to a lookup on Netcraft...

Now, if only I were being kept awake by a Hedo departure!

Everything comes up ok on this end. The local DNS returns the same IP that you have. If they are running virtual hosts on that particular server, then going to the raw IP address will likely not result in the desired site coming up (the server has no idea which of the N virtual hosts you are trying to get to). This does appear to be the case in the test I just ran from this end (Action Hosting?).

The problem I've been having with the site is that I've been unable to register for the forums - the confirmation email never gets to me!

Try the Contact US button, they have always gotten back to us pretty fast.

Is anybody else still having problems with the site? I can get to the site okay but when I try to "find my reservation", it says they are still having problems. I need to make my final trip payment and can't obviously. Any other ways to make a payment to them? Thanks!

I can get in OK...but their forum seems to be over run with spam on a continual basis. I do see they try to cleani t up every once in awhile...but it's a shame that they allow unregistered guests to post...I get spam e-mails occassionally too asking for personal information (reply would be sent somewhere othere than www.hedonism.com) so assume phishing and don;t bother to answer...bitch that I open them too...there is probably a silent reply that it's a live e-mail address...

Not sure, seems to be working for us, I received and e-mail from both Lance and the Hedo IT guy who said all was well now.
