Hedo additional menu options for buffet line

I just booked my 8th vacation for Hedo in April. To tell you a little about myself, one of my many careers was a restaurateur. I owned a family style restaurant in Asheville, N.C. for 5 years and now retired. I have a few suggestions for improvements to the buffet line menu choices. Some of my suggestions are based on the North Carolina mountain food desires so please interpret this as suggestions only.
    Breakfast
Scrambled eggs plain with nothing added.
Poached eggs were a good option that was available.
Bacon cooked hard and soft, user’s choice.
    Sausage or sliced ham.
Grits, plain nothing added. Butter available.
Potato cubes fried or baked. Hash browns.
Biscuits next to a bacon gravy option for “biscuits and gravy”.
    Lunch
Cold cuts with ability to make a sandwich or a sub. Perhaps even a substation.
Macaroni and cheese, some greens like green beans or spinach.
    Fried potato cubes with bacon.
Fish fillet, breaded fried or baked.
Cheese burgers with French fries option.
    Dinner
    Cubed steak in gravy.
Roast beef sliced in a thick gravy.
    Ham sliced in a gravy.
Cubed beef with egg noodles like an Alfredo.
    Mashed potatoes with gravy available.
Baked potato in foil with option for butter and bacon chips.
Macaroni and cheese, thick with cheese, plain with nothing added.
Green beans, spinach, peas, whole corn in butter all plain with nothing added.
Chicken nuggets breaded and deep fried, boneless.
Chicken pieces, legs, thighs, breasts, wings deep fried with a breading like KFC.
Chicken breasts baked in a sauce, boneless.
Fish fillet, boneless, baked or deep fried.

To me, a real turn off is to have food that has chopped up bones in it, except for fried chicken pieces, legs, thighs, etc. It must be a Jamaican thing but not pleasing for us Northern people. The macaroni and cheese is a profit maker along with spaghetti. Highest cost will be the cubed steaks and other beef options. The lobster line was an excellent option. The salad bar is excellent as is the desert selections. On my previous visits I usually just did the Alfredo line or salad bar and did not gain any weight during my visits so I am guessing I eat lightly while at Hedo, or maybe it is the available food options. Are there any more suggestions? …….. Dick Singlecruiser

I would be very happy with more potatoes everyday at dinner and mac and cheese at least one night a week at dinner.

That's a good list, I understand that not everybody feels the same way but when I go on vacation I want to eat the food of that culture and not what we eat here at home. There's no shortage of buffet restaurants all over the US and Canada that feature just about everything on your list. I've really enjoyed the Jamaican specialties that Hedo has such as oxtail, jerk chicken/pork/fish, and some of the vegetable dishes that we don't see up here. Also meat cooked slowly on the bone is much more flavourful that when cooked boneless.

I agree with Cdn_cpl, it is a good list however, we also like to eat what is local culture as much as possible and to try different things. Deep fried things I can definitely go without.

Agree completely. List was good with many of our favorites but we also enjoy eating the foods that are unique to the culture of the area we are in. Jamaican specialties are welcome or even menu items from the Caribbean in general. We've been at Hedo when they've done some beach parties with many local dishes. Probably one of our favorite meals.

I think all I ate was beef patties and jerk chicken... Maybe one or two late night pizzas. What more do you need?

We just got back, and to cover some basics...
Mashed potatoes were available almost every night.
Assorted fried fish options were also frequently available
One dinner featured a full roast pig at the carving station with a very nice gravy (had a touch of fruity sweetness to it, but otherwise very similar to a traditional brown gravy)
hard boiled and poached eggs were available every morning and the egg stations would certainly make you scrambled with nothing added if that was your wish.
Hash browns were available every morning
plain grits were available every morning
We didn't go to the dining room for lunch, but expect that cold cuts and bread were available, as they were available every morning for breakfast.

I guess I should have made it more clear that my suggestions were "in addition" to the current menu. I too have sampled the Jamaican menu and prefer a wider choice. I think the pig roast on the beach would be a great thing to have...... Dick Singlecruiser

Definitely a pig roast!! Though, I really do wish they had crispy bacon too!! I think more people like crispy as opposed to floppy bacon! I tried putting the floppy bacon in the toaster last year, to cook it more, and it caught the toaster on fire! LOL Before you judge... this was about 8:00am and we had just left the nude pool/bar, so I was not exactly thinking clearly!!
