I just booked my 8th vacation for Hedo in April. To tell you a little about myself, one of my many careers was a restaurateur. I owned a family style restaurant in Asheville, N.C. for 5 years and now retired. I have a few suggestions for improvements to the buffet line menu choices. Some of my suggestions are based on the North Carolina mountain food desires so please interpret this as suggestions only.
Breakfast
Scrambled eggs plain with nothing added.
Poached eggs were a good option that was available.
Bacon cooked hard and soft, user’s choice.
Sausage or sliced ham.
Grits, plain nothing added. Butter available.
Potato cubes fried or baked. Hash browns.
Biscuits next to a bacon gravy option for “biscuits and gravy”.
Lunch
Cold cuts with ability to make a sandwich or a sub. Perhaps even a substation.
Macaroni and cheese, some greens like green beans or spinach.
Fried potato cubes with bacon.
Fish fillet, breaded fried or baked.
Cheese burgers with French fries option.
Dinner
Cubed steak in gravy.
Roast beef sliced in a thick gravy.
Ham sliced in a gravy.
Cubed beef with egg noodles like an Alfredo.
Mashed potatoes with gravy available.
Baked potato in foil with option for butter and bacon chips.
Macaroni and cheese, thick with cheese, plain with nothing added.
Green beans, spinach, peas, whole corn in butter all plain with nothing added.
Chicken nuggets breaded and deep fried, boneless.
Chicken pieces, legs, thighs, breasts, wings deep fried with a breading like KFC.
Chicken breasts baked in a sauce, boneless.
Fish fillet, boneless, baked or deep fried.
To me, a real turn off is to have food that has chopped up bones in it, except for fried chicken pieces, legs, thighs, etc. It must be a Jamaican thing but not pleasing for us Northern people. The macaroni and cheese is a profit maker along with spaghetti. Highest cost will be the cubed steaks and other beef options. The lobster line was an excellent option. The salad bar is excellent as is the desert selections. On my previous visits I usually just did the Alfredo line or salad bar and did not gain any weight during my visits so I am guessing I eat lightly while at Hedo, or maybe it is the available food options. Are there any more suggestions? …….. Dick Singlecruiser
