    No Baby Sitter!!!!!!!!!

I have been sulking for 2 wks now.

Found out that my in-laws are no longer willing to watch my kids for a week while we are on holidays. That means that we can only go south with the kids from now on.

I am sooooooooooooooooo freaken bummed out.

I have DIF in a bad way and I have no one else who is willing to watch the kids. The sacrifices that you make for your children I tell ya.

I'm really hoping that they change their minds.

Keep your fingers crossed that my in-laws decision is not final. My kids are 5 and 6. It will be forever before I get to go south alone with my Honey again.

Thanks for listening. I just needed to vent!

Have the kids cry in front of them and plead to stay with grammy and papa...if that fails...bribe them...

We are not there yet, but every year we wonder if this be the last one that my parents will be willing to watch the kids. Hope they change their mind and you are able to go again!

We hear you each year our trip we have to figure an extra $ 750 for the sitter to stay the week so shouldnt we get a discount at the resort for not bringing them and drinking more of their drinks. Just our 2 cents or should we say 4k.

You might remind the in-laws that in a few more years the shoe will be on the other foot and in thier old age, you'll return the favor...
Alone time for a couple is not an option, it's a necessity. You need it to stay connected. Without it, you pour your entire ife into your kids and you can lose touch with your SO. All too common.
Do either of you have sisters/brothers that you can trade sitting favors with?
I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.

My sister, brother in-law and brother & sister in-law are all unable to help out. I can barely get then to watch the kids for an evening.

My Mom is in a wheel chair and can't even move around in my house. With the kids going to school I need someone at the house to get them to school.

I will have to figure something out.

I thought for sure that my in-laws were going to be able for at least another year or so. Darn it!!!!

we've been really fortunate for the past trips... but we too fear this may be the last one we get!! (hence doing it in 5 weeks as opposed to later in 2010)
good luck... i feel your pain!

    Empty nest!!
Well we do have to get the oldest daughter to watch the dogs!
We bribe her with letting her stay at the house and use the Jacuzzi tub along with stocking the fridge before we go!

How about a single teacher from their school?

Obviously likes kids, probably good with them and would probably be happy to live in your house, eat out of your fridge and take care of the kids for a couple hundred bucks...

What about friends? Anyone your close with that would be willing to stay?

My mom always watched our kids when we went away, sometimes 2 times a year. She would fly in and stay and she loved it. That all came to an end when she passed away earlier this year. Lucky for us, we have friends who love our children and they are willing to keep them for a week and get them to and from school.

I hope it all works out for you. Couples need that time alone.
