    Developing Pictures

    Hello Everyone,

I am a newbie to Hedo and I will be going there in May for my honeymoon. My question to you is what type of camera should I take with me? I know first hand that most U.S. photo shops will not develop nude pictures (another story for another time); therefore, would it be better for me to use a Polaroid or a digital camera? Do you know of shops that will develop nude pictures? What do you personally handle this situation and what do you recommend?

    Thanks!

From what I know most shops will develop nude pictures so long as they are not depicting something illegal (like naked children, sodomy, rape).

Still, we took our digital camera but that is more a function of me being a computer nerd. If you have a good inkjet printer you can print really good looking photos off a digital camera, they also make special printers to do it too. Some are so small you could take them with you if you had a laptop.

For true photo like quality though you should get a digital camera with atleast 5 megapixels. Also remember that optical zoom is good, digital zoom is bogus.

Thanks for the info Chris! From your experience, would you say that most people at Hedo are using digital cameras? If I decided not to purchase one and decided to use my good and faithful advantix camera, what shops would you recommend I use to get my nude pics developed? I just don't want any complications in this area.

Okay, I think I understand now. Photo shops may not develop pics if the people in them are engaged in sexual activity which they class as pornography. However, simply nude pics will be developed with no problem by most photo shops.

    Is this a correct assessment?

Has anyone been able to get pics of sexual activity developed by any photo shops? If so, which shops do you recommend?

My two cents worth here, I use a digital camera and it saves me from having to worry that if they did develope the pictures did they also keep a copy here and there. Maybe I'm just paranoid. Also being a total computer nerd its easier for me to just upload them all to the computer and then edit them and print what I want. Last trip I had something like 280 pictures and I'd imagine we have something close to a 1000 total Hedo pictures by now. The cost to print all of them would be high. I take a lot more pictures using the digital because they don't cost anything to develope. This way we print the dozen or so we can show friends and leave the rest on the hard drive for our viewing pleasure.

Well, it looks like many of you are using digital cameras. Therefore, that is what I am now aiming to use.

Which digital camera do you recommend I buy and how much does it cost?

Canon or HP make good photo printers.

Gateway or Dell have good deals on digital cameras right now, for instance Gateway has one for under $200 but its not the best quality. For brands I have an Olympus and I like it, Canon is also good, and HP.

Also, when picking out a camera remember that you will likely need a card so you can store more pictures. I have a 128mb smartmedia card (the type of card you get will depend on your camera) and it can hold about 140 pictures. Also with a digital camera you can delete pictures right after taking them so you end up needing less "exposures" than with a normal camera.

Dell is going to be running a sale on Canon camers this weekend, 12th - 15th. There will be a 15% off coupon on SavvyShopping.net starting on the 12th. Considering Dell's already low prices that should end up being pretty cheap. The coupon will be good on two models, Canon SD100, Canon A300.

For a printer remember you don't need one since you can view you pictures on your PC or even take the memory card to most photo places to have it developed. That being said I really like Canon printers, they don't rip you off on ink cartridges like HPs or Lexmarks can. I have a Canon i550 and it prints nice pictures and was only around $120. Small portable printers will be more expensive though.
