We are going 8/9 to 8/15 so we can not help you on this one, but ATL is our home airport Any help we can be to anyone flying through in terms of information etc. please feel free to ask. The shops in general open by about 7, but it is often erratic in the duty free shop. We have bought duty free before th 8:30 flight, but you never know for sure. For others returning through ATL, remember that any duty free liquor or other liquids you bring into ATL must be put in checked baggage to transfer to another flight, or even to get out of the d*** airport. This will only be fixed when they finally build an international terminal so you do not have to go through the whole airport to escape.

Thanks for the offer of help, so if I understand your post, on return, I will have to go another terminal for a domestic departure, how far will I have to go to make my connecting flight on return. Heading to Jamaica is not an issue for us, we are flying in the night before and staying at a local hotel.

    Thanks for the help.

You'll land in Concourse E where you'll clear customs. That's the international terminal. Then depending on where you're heading and what kind of plane you're on, you'll leave out of A, B, C, or D. Usually it's A or B concourse. There's a tram that goes between concourses. After you clear customs it's a pretty quick trip to the next concourse on the tram. Is that what you were asking?

If you have a couple of hours, you will be fine. Little bit of slow down in customs if you get there at a crowded time (which seem to be random), but you will be good with that much time..........see you guys there, we will be in on the 1st

Couple hours should be plenty. I've never been more than an hour clearing customs in ATL. Usually it takes about 30 minutes.
