    Talking Practical tips for newbies

    Veterans, please chime in.
    Newbies, have questions?

    FOOD
If you would like to eat... don't miss meal times 7AM-10AM (?), 12-2PM, 7-9PM. There is food at the beach grills too, but these are the main meal times.

    TOWELS
9-4 at the little bldg behind the pier or the front desk after 4 PM.

    SAFETY
Stay on property after dark. Always sit on a towel nekkid. Use the room safe for valuables. Be cautious with local "party supplies."

    HANGOVERS
Be sure to drink water too!!

    SUNSCREEN
Minimum SPF15. Do a thorough job, head to toe or you'll regret it... Take ibuprofin if you get burned.

I have traveled quite bit in the military and know not to drink the water. But I am not sure about Jamaica. Is the water safe?

    water

You can buy bottled water from gift shop. We kept a few big bottles in the fridge we had put in our room. There was a few times we did drink the water on the resort with no problems.

We drank lots of water at H2 last year and had no issues, as far as we're aware the water in Jamaica is not a problem.

There is no problem with the water in Jamaica. Drinks lots of it all the time to stay hydrated. It's great water.....so fill up!!

As for leaving the resort after dark, it's fine to do so. I wouldn't suggest walking the beach up by H2, but heading into town or to a club or restaurant or bar is fine. As is walking along the beach in the more populated areas.

There is also a midnight snack available at the main dining room. I think that is midnight til 1 or 2....I can never recall which.

YES, probably some of the best water, out of a tap, anywhere in the world. Loads of rain falling on limestone (natural filter), and a long history of municipal supply. The water is your least concern.

I'd recommend an SPF way over 15. 30 applied well before you go out and reapplied after you get out of water. When you MD says, "Oh, oh, I don't like he look of that," pointing at that small blemish, you'll understand. Ask any Ozzy!

Don't forget the midnight buffet for late food, and the various parties etc. over the week. You can't go hungry at Hedo.

    Extra stuff to bring:

Insulated Mugs (beats the little cups they give you at the bars)
Flipflops / Shoes you can wear in the water
Photocopies of your passport: kept in a separate place from your regular ones
Safety pins (they come in handy for toga night)
Beach Bag (helps going from the room to the pool/beach)

My warning concerning leaving the premisis at night should be modified to read "use your head," the big one...not the small one...

SPF 15 is the minimum. We tan well, but SPF 8 left us too tan after our last trip and that's not healthy. You know your own skin, take care of it.

A big beach bag is a lifesaver. Only kangaroos have pockets when their nekkid.

The water served at H2 and H3 goes through the same filtration system that the water that is added to the soda postmix cylinders goes through. It is very clean- you will have no problem at all with the water.
