Simple Solution, see what group is going when you are, and join.

    Just a suggestion....

And a very good one. Even if you don't know the folks or don't want to be included in their activities, you can take advantage of their group rates AND lessen the chance of getting bumped!

Of course, you would be crazy to at least not to try and get to know the group.. Groups are great people!

I think it gets blown way out of proportion. It does not happen as often as it appears, when it does happen - that person will make sure everyone hears about it.

A group does help, but only if you get yourself to the resort. The SuperClubs desk is not always as in sync with the resort as you might expect. If you accept the bump at the desk then the group can't help you out. Just make sure you are adequately compensated. If you are with a group and they try to bump you at the SC desk - get yourself to the resort and give it a try there where your group hosts can help you out. You may just get there and find out they have a room for you afterall if you are willing to wait for them to figure it out.

Well it depends on the group and how they are managing things at their end at the resort.

Personally, Jim and I check in with the desk every morning for our group members room assignments and make certain that they have a room assigned. Most times the problem, IF it happens, is taken care of before our guests planes even land.

So we don't have to be at the SC lounge to make certain our members are taken care of. Of course we can only do that for Castaways guests. We may have non-Castaways guests with our group but we cannot help with booking issues with those members.

Come to think of it...all 6 years at both H2 and H3 of our group trip the resort has been sold out and bumping on the weekend and we've never had one of our guests bumped.

For our paid members thru castaways this year we did the same thing, and everyone of the paid members had their rooms or an upgrade they wanted, and their rooms were ready at their check in.

We do the same thing every morning. People do need to know that miss communications between the resort and the SC desk can happen. There is no reason to stress about things that have a low probability of happening, but people need to be prepared and know what to do if it happens.

There are also always some people that are ok taking a bump so that they can have a free night or two the next year and get to check out another resort for a day.

Good point, we have actually seen them going door to at the resort asking on resort folks if they would transfer for a couple of days and receive a few free the next year as well.

They seem to have a bit more of a problem getting people to leave once they are there....go figure...lol...

We are going to the June 13-20 week with that group. There are several groups that go during this time. What info are you wanting to know?

But I do remember a person at the resort incharge of a group that came when we were already there, and she was very demanding that one of her members get the group and not an arriving guest. I think they were all on the same bus and arrived at the same time. I sure as hell aint staying down the street at that Pirates Cove place!
To my understanding the host of a group will come to bat for you if there is a prob with bumping, not that it always helps though. But if you do get bumped I believe they send you to Breezes or Grand Lido, something like that. Because they are through Superclubs and they don't have to pay for the comp to the other resort.

I have been 4 times and never been bumped. I have been with a group and without a group. I guess it depends on when you go. But I went over NYE and there were people getting bumped, but we did not have any problems.

Hedo guests seem to be overly concerned about bumping...Has anyone ever met a Lido or Breezes people that have been bumped to Hedo??....HORRORS...imagine explaining that one to folks at home if you had not planned Hedo??

We tend to go at what seems to be a particularly busy time of year. The end of July/first week of August has multiple groups on resort at the same time, along with the Jamaican Independence holiday that brings more locals to the resort. We have seen bumping go on during each of our trips. Contract groups can stipulate with their agent and the resort that their members not be bumped- and we have been fortunate because of that. The second thought I have on this subject is of a couple we travelled with once got to the airport and were told they were being bumped. They paid their way to the resort via taxi-van and just showed up at the front desk. They were given a room and not turned out to the place down the driveway. Not saying that will work for everyone, but it worked for them.
    Cheers!

It usually only occurs on the weekends...Saturdays primarily. Not that it helps any but just so the new people know, it's not for the whole week, usually just a day or two.

First bumped are comped rooms and people like staff that may be staying at the resort or working vacations like traveling fitness instructors, etc.

Certain travel agents, due to long time service and lots of bookings receive preference over others who book through less known travel agents or places like Expedia, etc.

First come first served can't always work either because while you may have booked your trip 6 months ago, someone else booked their's last month but is arriving a day before you so they are already there and signed in.

This is the reason that while you might save by booking through discounted sites it's not worth the few dollars a day difference. However if you could book to arrive mid-week you might be able to avoid this. Although when we were there last week, the resort was sold out through Wednesday.
I like how this sounds....I was getting a little scared but I arrive on a Wednesday at round 1:00pm, So I hope that helps.

That actually happened over NYE. It was an adult family of 4. Dad and Son seemed to have enjoyed the Tour, but Mom wasn't really enjoying it.
