Cruzan Estate Dark....very smooth, not too sweet and a little cheaper than the others too.

Made this for M's soak in the hot tub last. A sure hit for those who like sweet shaken drinks.

I like Gosling Black rum neat. I ran across a 151 version of this in Vegas but it was a bit much for me. I'd never turn down Sangsters Rum Cream either.

I am a fan of Cruzan Coconut and Cruzan Pineapple for mixing. We also like Parrot Bay but not crazy about Malibu for some reason.

Pineapple nectar and coconut rum is my all time fave. The taste of Pina Colado without the dairy and the nectar is much lighter than juice. You can drink A LOT without feeling icky from all the sugar.

Of course, the rum drink that I hate the most is the Mojito. You may as well do rum shots and chew Wrigley's spearmint gum...YUCK ...but to each their own.

I'm the reason all of the rum is gone.

    The Best Rum

Sometimes the simplest is best; The regular white BACARDI. It is very smooth - not as harsh alcohol taste and smell as all the other white rums. I prefer white rum over dark as the dark ones usually taste and smell mollases and are too sweet for me. But in this class BACARDI is once again best with their ANEJO.

Anytime: Mt Gay, or Meyers or Mt Gay + Meyers
Special: High-end aged golden or dark boutique rum on the rocks.

BTW does anyone know if H2 has Mt Gay on the shelf. I'm a sailboat racer and cant live w/o it -- I think there is a special patch inside those red hats.

I am a dark rum lover. Don't care for light rums (but will still drink them with Diet Coke) and don't like spiced rums.
On a previous trip to the Carribean I have come to love Barcelo 21yo from the Dominican Republic, so your mention of the older Appleton rums makes me very, very curious.

How does someone in Daytona Beach get a good rum from Cuba? Okay, maybe I don't want to know.
