    What's your favorite Rum?

Alright, in the 'spirit' of the Tequila thread,,, Tequila ,,, I thought I'd start another one, with the main topic of ,,,,,

    RUM !!!

What's your favorites, least favorites, which one goes best with what mixers,,,,, all the way from the lightest of light rums, to the darkest, carmeliest of the dark rums. The young, todays vintage of fruit-flavored and spiced ones to the costly triple-aged, and expertly made Rum Creams. Please include any and all Rum-concocted beverages you've ever had the privilege to imbibe. Or at least all you can remember,

    All rums will be accepted.

I'm compiling my list even as I type,

Personally I love the Captain Morgan's. Silver is smooth and Tatoo is very flavorful. Of course the original Spice seems to go well with most any mixer or straight up. (we put Silver in our water bottles for the cruise ship)

Looking forward to Rum Cream. I tried some "over-proof" Jamaican rum once. Just a few drops in a coke. Too strong for me. Killed the coke.

On a side note, I have a recipe with Everclear and the 190 is too strong and kills the flavor. I can't get 150 here in AR. So I buy the 150 when in CA and make my "brew" when I get home.

Anyone has a good recipe for a Hurricane? Love those. Although some have been better than others and I don't know why yet.

Jack Sparrow said it best, "But, where's the rum?" Gotta love those movies just for Johnny Depp's fairy moves and love affair with Rum. Captain Morgan's with Mango Nectar and a float of Meyer's Dark is my drink of choice.
Don't want to get too far off topic, but give this a try:
Liquid Cocaine.....1 shot of each: Grand Marnier, Southern Comfort, Vodka, Amaretto, and splash of pineapple juice. Shake w/ice and serve in a martini glass.
    Webtender.com is a gold mine.
I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.

Appleton, Myers, Gosling, Mt Gay.. mmmmm dark rum makes me happy.
I completely dislike Baccardi, and I don't love the Captain. I know many love them.. Just not my thing.

It's the quality of the ingredients, trust me. Fresh juices mixed with excellent quality spirits makes the cool happen.

Let me check my recipe list for hurricanes, I think I have about 4-5 different ones. But I have to say, usually the simpler recipes work best.

Only until you get spoiled. Then VX is the mixer, 12 year is the sipper, 21 year is a joy, and 30 year is a miracle to behold.

I am a dark rum lover. Don't care for light rums (but will still drink them with Diet Coke) and don't like spiced rums.

I used to have a recipe for a variety of hunch punch called "Cannibal",,,, a modified form of "Hurricane punch",,, main ingredient was, of course, rum,,,,,, but it had to be aged a minimum of 2 hours. It tasted like cotton candy, if it was mixed and aged correctly.

    Definitely a sleeper beverage.

Never really had a taste for regular Captain Morgan, but I've developed a taste for Captain Morgan's Private Stock (stored in the fridge).

    New Orleans (Nawlins) Hurricane

    1/2 cup ice
    2 fluid ounces light rum
2 fluid ounces passion fruit flavored syrup
1 cup lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage
    1 ounce lime juice
1 fluid ounce 151 proof rum (most folks I know use a dark rum here instead of 151)

In a shaker ( or blender if you want frozen ), combine ice, light rum, passion fruit syrup, lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage and lime juice. Shake well and pour mixture into a Hurricane or other large specialty glass. Float the 151 proof rum on top of the drink.
