    Day Trip Recommendations

While we have frequented the West Coast of the Island (Sleepy Negril and environs), we are unfamiliar with the North East Coast. Are there any side excursions any of you would recommend? Dunn River Falls?

Of course the obvious comment is why the heck would we want to leave the resort at all! But we like to mix a little side trip or two with the resort debauchery

    Thanks in advance.

We usually go for two weeks so you get tired of laying around and we like to see the countryside.
We went on a few excusions. Dunn's river falls is a must. Make sure you have a pair of water shoes with good grip. Its great. We also did the mountain bike ride down Mt. Zion. That was a blast. The white water rafting was really good too. Its also worth taking the shopping tour of Ocho Rios. The market there is great lots of unique crafts in addition to the regular tourist stuff. The company that has the best offerings in my opinion is Chukkah tours. The resort does all the booking for you. There is lots to do if you want!

hey..DunnRiver Falls in a definite must, In my opinion ists one of the best excursions offered. There is also a Dolphin park type of place which was pretty cool. There you can swin and play with the dolphins as well as Sting rays!!! yeah i know, it sounds crazy but very cool. Oh,,there is also a Zip line adventure park which was pretty exciting. Lets see..they also have horse back rides through a beach and a nude cruise trip aswell. I havent tried those, but i will this time around. If you got any more questions let me know, everyday i went out to an excursion to enjoy the "real Jamiaca"

Dunns River is a must if you are going off the resort.

we have been mountain top horseback riding - very enjoyable

we have friends who went on the beach horseback ride

and we have also had some shopping trips to Ocho Rios.

if you go shopping, don't buy anything at the stores, instead buy at the straw markets, much cheaper i think. In fact i have heard that the straw market in Fern Gulley (not far from Ocho Rios) is the cheapest, but i haven't been there myself.

One thing i recommend if you plan to visit any tourist spots (tourist traps) is to visit this site first http://www.cruisett.com/ports.php?PortID=480&date=4

it lists the schedule for the cruise ship port in Ocho Rios. try to plan your trip to dunn's river, etc. for a day with the fewest cruise ships, it will be much less crowded and more enjoyable.

Get Andy to take you out snorkling. He's a jewel and you'll have a blast!

Hey there, is the snorkling right at the resort, or do they take you out in a boat somewhere? Thanks.

Wow...tons of tips! Thanks so much guys! Looks like Dunn's is a must-do! We are hoping it is not really packed or it may take the fun out of it.
Thanks for the reminder, we will pack our snorkelling gear as well and find this Andy guy ...

    Mwah! Thank you again.

One trip we did was to Margaritaville for lunch.
It was a blast BECAUSE the cruise ship was there!
The place was packed and one huge party!
You would have thought it was a Friday night!

When the cruise ship people left... DEAD!
I will definately any trip to Margaritaville DURING the cruise ship stop.
But as advised... plan Dunns when the ships are NOT there!!
