    Airline Prices

I heard a rumor about airline prices being lowest on Wednesday mornings and have been checking it out on expedia for the past few weeks and it seems to be true. Apparently thats the day when new "seats" get released and/or unpaid reservations get thrown back into the pile. Checked on prices from Jax to MBJ last Monday and average was around $650. This morning the cheapest flight is on AA at $411. Just a little FYI for those that havent booked their flights yet.

Depends on where you are flying from and the time of year.Last week I pulled up US Air flights out of Charlotte for Feb. & March and could fly r/t for $268.00 per person plus taxes etc. leaving on a Friday and returning on a Saturday. When i pulled up the same flights in April it was $450.00 & higher. We paid $650.00 per person r/t in November so it is nice to see the lower prices, just hope they stay around until we have enough money to travel again!!!

I just checked our flight and the ticket prices are the same flying out of Dulles in Va. My only thing was that I should have booke before the new year. the prices went up $100 from December to January. the big thing that I found is that if you know when you are going, buy your tickets as early as possible to save the most that you can.

It does pay to keep watching the prices. We got a direct flight from Miami to MoBay for $58 per person round trip on Spirit.

Of course after taxes, luggage, seats (apparently you don't actually get a seat on Spirit for that price), and insurance, the total for both tix came to just over $400.
    Still a great deal!!!!

Point is that when I first started looking at the tickets they were any where from $79 to $ 139 one way. I'm sure the drop in gas prices helped a lot.

I discovered an odd thing while booking our flights this time. Had a bunch of United miles but United flies to MBJ only two days a week. Started looking at Star Alliance flights and discovered US Air has many more flights and if you search for first class very often they are the same number of miles as coach. Needless to say we are flying first class this trip. SFO-CLT-MBJ.

We've been watching the flights out of Boston for late Apr for awhile now, hoping the current economy would dictate a drop in prices, a bit of a gamble. Finally decided to book this past weekend, ended up with the lowest fights we have ever gotten in 6yrs.

Could have easily gone the other way though, my 2 cents.

We just booked with Air Jamaica, for 05/02/09 to 05/09/09, for $265.00 per person all taxes and fees included, round trip from Phila. to MBJ. They are running special fares through Feb.11 from various cities.

I heard the time to check for the best deals was late Wednesday evenings. Several web based services will send you an email if a particular flight drops below a specified figure. I have the following as my travel favorites: Kayak, Sidestep, BookIt, Expedia, Travelocity. Cheaptickets, and Travelzoo.
I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.
