Question how to treat jellyfish sting?

Just returned back to the statesand the wife has little dots like acne on her back and chest. She thinks its jellyfish stings from when she was diving around the beach looking for treasures to take pictures of. she had her eyes closed so she did not see anything. Now they burn and itch. Do we let time heal them or is there a way to treat em? thanks! To many clothes! I need a land shark DELROY!!!!

    Jellyfish Sting Treatment

    Talon,

This is a mixture we use in the ER for jellyfish stings. It makes a pint....

    2 oz. Ammonia
    12 oz. Rubbing Alcohol
    4 oz. Water
Mix with enough Baking Soda to make a paste-like consistency

Apply the "paste" to the affected area(s) and place a hot wet towel over it until the sting is gone. Hope this helps.

Could also try vodka and a brush...

The vodka goes on the sting, then rub it with the brush (like a fingernail brush)

    Supposed to work reasonably well.

I got stung by a jellyfish while swimming during the nude cat cruise. Rasta Ralphie gave me a paper towel soaked in white rum to put on it.

Five minutes later, sting and burn all gone never to return.

that makes sense that this would work...jellyfish leave a gooey/oily 'venom' which reacts with skin to make it red, itchy, stinging...and alcohol will typically cut the goo.

unless of course you're incredibly sensitive to the goo and then you swell up like a puffer fish! [raises hand]

    simple remedy

I grew up swimming in salt water and Jelly Fish stings were common. As soon as you are stung, rub sand on the area. This really helps! Alcohol should be consumed

I thought you were supposed to pee on it?

Perhaps that's why I didn't pursue medicine as a career. Perhaps that's why I'm no good in such an emergency. Perhaps that's just an excuse for lack of medical knowledge, not wanting to make the trek to the bathroom and a twisted sense of humor.

Later on, when the itching subsides, you can laugh nervously and change the subject.
