Verizone Cell Phone Service

H3 Cell phone service. Will Verizone service work at the resort? Can anyone recommend a calling card that works there?

I've personally used verizon last 3 times, without a problem.
ONE THING THOUGH, it makes it a hell of a lot easier if you call them (611) a few days before and TELL THEM that the phone will be (legitimately) in Jamaica..

normally, international calls are locked out by default for US providers, to discourage the trade of stolen phones..

the first time i tried to call out, i had to call from land line, to get it set up..

after that, the next 2 times, i called before, "just to be sure it was still active".. i was lucky i did the second time, because international had dropped between #2 & #3..

you should also call any credit card you plan on using, for the same reason..

as far as RECEPTION goes, at Hedo 3, I had to go out by the Tennis courts to get voice..
Text seemed to magically arrive regardless..

I have AT & T and it worked at H2 fine but the cost was out of this world. I suggest purchasing a Digicel phone card while there. You can use this from anywhere on the resort or island. I paid like 20 cents per call from my room using this phone card, not before I ran up a $50 dollar bill on my cell phone though unfortunately.

I just got AT & T (iPhone corporate gift)..
If you call ahead, you can bump your plan for a nominal fee ($5 or so), that includes reasonable international rates...

We have verizon, and we had no problem making calls or receiving txt messages. But you will not be able to call a cell phone unless it also has the international plan to accept calls.

AT&T does not offer much of a deal on international calling from cell.....$1.99 a minute without plan and $1.69 with plan !.... think we will do the calling card thing !

We bought a cheap digicell and $20 of time ($ 55) we used the phone statewide and never thought about time... was was cheap compared to our verizion bill on other trips
