April 16th-24th

WOW! What a great time we had! The weather was pretty good for most of the week. We had a few thunderstorms/showers, but we also had a lot of sunshine in between, so I think we were pretty lucky. Everyone definitely needs to remember some rubber soled sandals at Hedo 3 as the Veranda and pool areas are VERY slippery when it's wet!

On the plus side - Travel from the airport to the resort went quickly with the mandatory stop at a roadside bar. The message board worked out to be a great idea as we met over 50 people plus added a few others along the way as our group made new friends throughout the week. We had two cocktail parties in the piano bar with about 30 people attending each one! It was a great blend of personalities and many participated in the resort activities making them even more fun to watch and cheer people on. We thought the food was pretty good and a bit better than we had at Hedo 2 in January. From our end the administrative staff was very nice and helpful. The entertainment staff was very energetic and kept everything lively and fun. The rooms are larger than at Hedo 2 and we had plenty of hot water for showers, even in the late afternoons and the a/c worked well.

On the down side - We took the catamaran cruise with a few others and were disappointed. Though we only lasted half the trip (Mary forgot to take her Dramamine and had a very rough time of it and had to be dropped off on shore half way through) from what we saw the crew was inexperienced and had some problems keeping the boat going. Also, one of our guests was slightly injured when a rope snapped and hit her in the forehead! Thankfully she was left with only a bruise, but it could have been worse. Also the music in the disco was extremely loud and despite our efforts to get them to turn it down, they not only wouldn't comply, but were rude about it. Many people were unhappy and either had to leave the disco early with headaches or didn't bother going to it at all. Check in on the weekends was discouraging with people waiting up to 4 hours for their rooms - though we were able to speed up that process for most of our Castaways travelers. While the entertainment staff was very active, we didn't feel they were quite as genuinely friendly as at Hedo 2 last time.

Side notes - a lot of people dressed for the themes, but slut wear was not as predominate as we've seen in the past, though none who dressed up felt out of place. Most everyone dressed for PJ and Toga nights, though many people now bring their own togas, either bought or hand made. For those who are interested in the "wild side" open sexual activity was slow in the beginning of the week, and increased a bit toward the end of the week. No one seemed to mind whenever anyone decided to be an exhibitionist and most times were cheered on. I'd give the sexual activity about a 4 or 5 on a scale of 10 during the day time and of course pretty busy in the hot tub every night!
