Bus Ride

Will be traveling October 20th thru the 25th

. Other than the bus trip, to Hedo III can you get a private car and or limo. From what we've been reading it's a 2 hr ride

. Eventhough the bus ride might be fun we are anxious to arrive at Hedo and enjoy the resort.

You can hire a taxi at the airport ut it's pretty expensive. I think we paid 80.00 once. If you can find another couple to share the ride or even two it would be easier. Will save an hour so so depending on the time of day and all that. If you're on the bus around noon it will be a full sized bus and you can plan on stopping at least once for beer, then Grand Lido and Breezes before you finally get to Hedo. Getting a private taxi you can stop for some beer if you like and then make some tracks to the resort.

We just got back from III (Amazing) and now that MOST of the coast road is done, the bus ride goes pretty fast. I think it was about 75 minutes both there and back. I honestly think the MOST time you would save by hiring a car would be 15 minutes.

Thanks to all of you. We are arriving around 1:00 so we will probably be better off getting to the resort. We were just hoping for private car or limo service, but only seem to have found a service with a Toyota. We'll just keep on checking.

To Greg and Leslie I'm glad you had a great to. To be honest I can't imagine having a bad time there. Only one month and counting ahhhh!!!

you probably do not want to rent a car, once you see the drivers there, you will understand. we looked into it. it is several times more than local car rentals and not a good selection. insurance is high. at most if you do not stop you may save 15 - 20 minutes. the road is usually lined with buses, trucks and not a lot of passing opportunity. on the bus you can look at the island better .
if you are driving, well lets say that you may hit a goat or worse a pot hole. if you bust a tire on a rental car, you could very well be there most of the day because Jamaicans are in slow motion when it comes to these sort of things. it happened to a couple we met there at the airport on our return flight.

We just got back a couple of weeks ago. We landed in Jamaica at around noon, and there was 4 cpls on the bus. One went to Breezes and the other 3 went to Hedo 3. The trip was about an hour or so. We were taken straight there. I don't think we would have saved any time by getting a taxi. Definetly saved money

Besides all that information there's always that one guy that really wants to go to Hedo but his wife said no. Fun to torment them on the trip to the resort. They get you back later though cause they are well rested and full of chat about golf scores while you are hung over and worn out on the way back to the airport.

Not to burst any bubbles but we just took the bus ride from Hell on the the trip back two days ago. It was Sunday morning with almost no traffic and it took a full two hours. The driver stopped at Bahia to evidentally transact some business for an extended period, and then the regular rest stop. At the rest stop (which was supposed to take 10 minutes) we waited for 25 minutes while two idiot women "shopped" for T shirts etc. which they could have bought at the duty free in the airport for lots less.

It depends on if the bus stops for a drink at one of the bars.

Honestly it's a crap shoot. Depends on how many people are coming in around then and which resorts they are going to. If it's a large bus full and you have to make three stops plan on two or more hours. If it's four couples going to Hedo then it will be faster, say 90 minutes tops.

I never looked at it that way concerning the sorry husband with the tight a*()(* wife. We'll definately make sure no matter how tired we are, to have a huge smile on our faces during the way back to the airport. Now that's just too funny! After reviewing most of the responses we came to the conclusion that, we can shop, drink, smoke, make fun of the tight a*( people, all before we even start our vacation at Hedo, what else can I ask for!
