    Dengue Fever?

Hi everyone, we have been seeing reports of dengue fever outbreaks in Jamaica. Does anyone know more, did you hear stories from people who went? Thanks and cheers

Just following up… most of the outbreak is in the Kingston area, however, it would be greatly appreciated if someone could confirm either “no” knowledge of cases in Negril, or point to a place we can do our own research. Thanks a million.

Our doctor friend recommended that I buy Repel insect repellant with 40% Deet prior to the trip due to the Dengue outbreak, which I did. Yes, from what I was told it was mostly in the Kingston area. We arrived in Jamaica October 25 and were at Hedo October 26 - November 4. During that time, I don't think I got one bite of any kind. I do not hang out on the sand and beach at dusk or at night. Hedo does fog the place in the late afternoon/early evening. We were not bothered by mosquitos at all, and never opened the insect repellant.

Sadly our trip home is over. Had a fantastic time and made some really great new friends ;-)

Never saw a single mosquito. According to the info in our room the resort is spraying for mosqitoes daily - never saw evidence of this, but mosquites were zero problem for us.
