    Travel from Canada

I am wondering if anyone has recently travelled from Canada to Jamaica, and if there were any problems? We are flying Calgary to Toronto to MB. There is talk of a possible strike with Westjet in Calgary, and Toronto Pearson Airport is supposedly a gong show. Just curious what other Canadians have experienced recently. Thanks!

    Define recently.
We did a Vancouver, Toronto, Montego, Bay flight, with Air Canada.
We went down in the middle of April, connected through YYZ, easy as anything, just like pre covid.
Returned on May 02 (que the gong), yup it was a shit show, and from what we have heard we were lucky, as it's gotten worse.
Had to que for the passport check-in kiosks, then they shut those down for 20 minutes because the CBSA officers couldn't keep up with the demand (not enough officers) from the people who had already cleared the kiosks.
Then it was a hustle over to terminal "D" for our Vancouver flight. But first we needed to que up again because the CATSA people were under staffed and they only had two security stations open, again, not enough staff.
Fortuitously, Air Canada made an announcement that our "Flight was delayed by 45 minutes due to security and safety issues due to covid".
We had 3 hours allotted for the connection time, so including the added AC delay, we made it with 45 minutes to spare. AND it's gotten worse.
Oh yeah, our checked luggage made it all the way to Vancouver too.

Good luck, hope Westjet doesn't go on strike.

Oh crap, I definitely don't like the sounds of that! I plan to cram as much as possible in my carry on, incase our suitcases don't arrive (how much stuff does a person need at Hedo!?) On our return flight, we only have an hour and 45 minutes in Toronto before heading to Calgary. I did NOT think that was sufficient time, but my travel agent said it is plenty of time. I guess we'll figure it out if we miss the connection. Getting there and spending 10 glorious nights in paradise is all that matters, right?!

Sorry for the worry about the air travel. You're right about the "glorious nights in paradise" we were relaxed on the return trip and as annoying as it was we weren't too stressed. It had been three years that we had been away from Hedo because of covid, and we SOOO wanted to get back there.
For what it's worth we booked our flights back in January, and I made sure all the flights had a second flight some hours later so that if we were delayed or bumped, there was an alternative flight available. The three AC flights were great, the one Rouge flight (MBJ to YYZ) sucked big time.
Might suggest you research alternate flights in case you have issues with the flights you're on being cancelled. Good to have flight numbers handy.

Enjoy Hedo, wish we were going back sooner than next year.

Thanks for that advice. I am definitely going to look at alternate flights, incase ours get cancelled. We also have not been back to Hedo since 2019, so we are really needing this trip!

Just an update on our travels to Hedo. We flew Calgary to Toronto, had a 4 hour layover, then flew to Montego Bay. No delays, no problems with checked bags. From the time we touched down in MBJ to when our shuttle bus departed for Hedo, it was one hour! We are loving being back home at Hedo!

That's Awesome. Knowing you were somewhat worried, great to hear you folks had no problems with your travel day. We are supposed to be at Hedo right now as well, but just couldn't make it happen this year. Please have twice as much fun to cover for us and have an amazing time!!

Thank you, I was a little stressed out, but everything was smooth sailing. I am sorry you won't get a Hedo trip this year. I promise I will have some fun, just for you!
