    Would you go or not

I'm scheduled to visit hedo for Halloween. The delta variant seems to be spreading. Will hedo social distance the Nude pool or the piano. I know this seems to be extreme but what will the jamaican government feel. I'd love your opinion.

Hedo won't social distance the nude pool and likely not the piano bar. They may do things like cancel the foam party but that's about it. Jamaica has been open but restricted for the majority of the pandemic so seems unlikely they change that now. We went in November 2020 when the situation was worse and we social distanced ourselves. We went again in April 2021 and didn't social distance as much since we were vaccinated and everyone had been tested. Anyone wanting to social distance will have to do it on their own.

Be aware that there are reports of people there now, in isolation, with covid. If there is any resort in Jamaica where you're going to catch Covid, this is likely the one.

And from the Gleaner, near 50 cases at Hedo

We are booked for October 2-9. We are both vaccinated and, unless things get significantly worse, intend to be there.

"Statement from Hedonism II Resort regarding the article “Hotel Cluster” in the Gleaner dated August 11, 2021
The article in today’s Gleaner headline is incorrect and misleading. The figure quoted in the headline is not accurate and grossly overstates the situation. Our positive test rates are well below national average.
As with other resorts in Negril and indeed other businesses throughout Jamacia, we work daily with the new normal of persons contracting the virus.
For several months we had zero positive cases and it was a very small outbreak among guests that prompted us to request the Ministry of Health to screen our staff.
Jamaica positivity rate to date is 35.3%. Over the past two (2) weeks, more than 1,300 guests were tested on a complimentary basis, that is less than 0.5% of guests tested positive. Within the same period over 200 staff members were tested with a positivity rate of 3.4%. However, we stress it is nowhere near the number quoted in the Gleaner and that this number is wildly exaggerated.
Out of respect for our team members we will not discuss staff circumstances, and the resort will continue to work with all affected employees to provide practical support to both the employee and their families.
We have encouraged our staff to get tested. We are also encouraging staff who are unwell to stay home. And we continue to encourage our staff to take advantage of the vaccination opportunities provided by the Ministry of Health. It is in our best interest that anyone affected by illness is given the time and support from the resort to fully recover.
The covid pandemic affects all Jamaicans, and we will work together with all our partners to do the right thing for our team and our guests.

There was an article in the Jamaican newspaper about a female Hedo guest. She tested positive, was quarantined at Hedo for 10 days. She got so sick that they moved her to the hospital and then moved to a different hospital. They told her husband he should get her transported to US but he said they didn’t have insurance to pay for transport. She died in the Jamaican hospital. She was 3 months pregnant.
We are supposed to go in December but this is getting scary.

Just got back from a virgin trip, and just like anywhere you go you need to stay safe. This person refused being moved to a hospital intially when it was recommended and did not have insurance to get back jn case of emergency, that is an issue.
Through out the whole experience we were mindful of where or how it may be transmitted and what we could do to be safe. We wore masks in the airport at all times and in the plane, wiped down surfaces with wipes, limit what we touch in the airports...
At the resort we were a bit more relaxed, but still wore a mask to dinner and when moving around in the lobby or dinning area. We also did private transfer from the airport to Hedo. But we still mingled and met new people, just took precautions along the way. We also lysol'ed the room when we got there and used the wipes again, brouht those wipes with us in our beach bag for chairs and such. Small things that helped with our piece of mind.
To each their own on the decisions they make and the actions they follow. We decided to go knowing there were risks and tried to mitigate them best we could. We are also fully vaccinated and feel that adds a level of protection and peace of mind.

We enjoyed ourselves so much we started talking about our rerurn trip once back home (just nedd for the kids fo get a bit older )

What's the value of this reaction, what do you mean by it?
The fact that McDermot leaves in September doesn't have any affect on the validity or content of the article :-)

We to are booked for December this year postponed from last year. We have both been double vaccinated and have to pay the balance to our travel agents by the end of this month.
Really considering putting it off for another year.

Considering the resort that it is, the main value is the social interaction between guests, and now during this pandemic, social distancing is the best medicine.
We so want to get back to H2 also, but we also want to live long enough to return many more times.

We normally use Lysol, in our room as a matter of course, but having to spray clean surfaces we touch (beach chairs) out side our room, just takes away from the experience.
Non contact in the nude pools would be just too boring. Pool side games (the car wash) at arms reach, no thanks. Never mind wearing masks in the play rooms (just speculating here)!! LOL.

We have postponed twice already. We'll wait till next year, or the year after that, thank-you.

We just pulled the plug on our trip scheduled Sept 11 - 18. The positivity rate in Jamaica, the lock-down, the quarantine all were part of the decision. The inability to get an accurate number of current infections at Hedo, added to our concerns. The situation at YYZ with the inability of the airport to clear returning passengers rapidly, made the decision even more vital. Expecting a full refund from Westjet vacations. But totally disappointing. The world needs to get vaccinated. The anti-vaxers need to learn some science. I need a vacation by the ocean. But none of that will happen this year. Bummer.

    Westjet gives refunds??????

We usually connect through Toronto on the way to/from Jamaica, with not a lot of time between flights. Glad we are not connecting there this year.

We just postponed our Hedoween trip to unknown in 2022. What's the point in going to Hedo if there is no contact. You can postpone 2021 trips to 2022 if you act by 31st August.

Indeed you can postpone your trip till 2022, if you buy the cancellation insurance from the resort before the end of the month. Be aware though that you can not transfer it again in 2022 to 2023, it's only a 1 year extension from the date of your current booking, and if you don't travel within a year, you don't get a refund. Contact your travel agent or group TA to purchase the insurance.
