Sure glad we canceled our trip (for this Saturday), last week. Once on the restricted list, it is way too easy for medical insurance companies to deny coverage if you get sick. Got the refund from WestJet Vacations in four days (not a credit, but total refund to my credit card). We'll plan a trip south (perhaps) once Covid is defeated. Can't see that happening until a large proportion of the US population is fully vaccinated. I expect the definition of 'fully vaccinated' to be three doses of vaccine, soon.

It is not a restricted location. US travelers can go to Jamaica. Level 4 means that the level of advice not to travel is now at its highest. As you read the CDC recommendations it is clear there is different advice and levels of caution for vaccinated vs unvaccinated. Vaccinated travelers returning from Jamaica still do not have to quarantine upon return. Just get tested before you leave. Jamaica's resilient zones are less risky than the other portions of the population. Like night and day when it comes to other infected population, from what I hear. It's probably more risky going to Florida.

In some countries as PNK stated, your insurance may not cover you if you catch the virus. The CDC warning is their (the insurance companies) exit clause. PLEASE read you exclusion clauses in your travel medical in detail. Jamaica wants pre pay for hospital stays.
Be safe out there, HEDO is not worth dying for. It will be there next year, as will we.
