RESPONSE FROM HEDO

Statement from Hedonism II Resort regarding the article “Hotel Cluster” in the Gleaner dated August 11, 2021
The article in today’s Gleaner headline is incorrect and misleading. The figure quoted in the headline is not accurate and grossly overstates the situation. Our positive test rates are well below national average.
As with other resorts in Negril and indeed other businesses throughout Jamacia, we work daily with the new normal of persons contracting the virus.
For several months we had zero positive cases and it was a very small outbreak among guests that prompted us to request the Ministry of Health to screen our staff.
Jamaica positivity rate to date is 35.3%. Over the past two (2) weeks, more than 1,300 guests were tested on a complimentary basis, that is less than 0.5% of guests tested positive. Within the same period over 200 staff members were tested with a positivity rate of 3.4%. However, we stress it is nowhere near the number quoted in the Gleaner and that this number is wildly exaggerated.
Out of respect for our team members we will not discuss staff circumstances, and the resort will continue to work with all affected employees to provide practical support to both the employee and their families.
We have encouraged our staff to get tested. We are also encouraging staff who are unwell to stay home. And we continue to encourage our staff to take advantage of the vaccination opportunities provided by the Ministry of Health. It is in our best interest that anyone affected by illness is given the time and support from the resort to fully recover.
The covid pandemic affects all Jamaicans, and we will work together with all our partners to do the right thing for our team and our guests.

You know, how many people (guests) actually had the virus in say, the last month. Guests, not employees.
Let me rephrase that, how many people are in the iso (quarantine) area of the resort currently.

OK, fair enough, I'm not a math genius, I'll give you that.
Please enlighten me on how many (not a percentage) are in quarantine, again give me a number, how many staff are infected.
Give me numbers, not percentages, so that I may understand this situation. So, out of 280 rooms, possibly 560 guests (2 per room) how many had covid. Out of a staff of "200" how many had covid.
Please, make it simple for those of us with a "Lack of basic math skills".

Ask a human who passed the 4th grade as that is when it is taught from memory. Or...Just take the number given from Hedo in the article below, which incidentally, matches the result of the equation presented which vexed you so.*

Why approach them combatively? You must have a holiday book quite soon to be so concerned about exact numbers? Or perhaps you're the hero we all need to expose the duplicitous*Hedo?

Maybe wait till the seem evasive before you go on your Covid White Kight routine, by now everyone i know is well and truly*sick of it

What I find somewhat concerning is the Gleaner quoting, and NAMING, members of a PRIVATE Facebook group in their article. Is that not a breach of privacy? What if one of those named were "outted" to their families, employers, or communities when they do not want it known what they do or where they go on their personal time. Did they provide consent to be named in the article?

As for the numbers that supposedly challenged me, I was referring to the press release from Dermot. I will acknowledge that the news paper article may not be accurate, hence the request for specifics from Dermot.

While I had looked at a visit to H2 in the fall, it's now off till April.
I'm as fed up as everyone with this covid virus, and I just want to get back to Hedo, the way it was. I also want to live longer, so yes, I'm concerned about accurate specific numbers.

I called them out on that the last time they quoted something from the group. I told the reporter that apparently she didn;t learn anything in journalism school if indeed she went to journalism school
