TRUE what PNK said. The first thing I check out is the "Exclusion" portion of the insurance. Covid is a game changer, and you need to check what each country requires for admission, which is different from what the US (or Canada) travel restrictions declare. For example, Canada has posted that Jamaica is not a place to travel too. Based on that, if a Canadian travels there, their travel medical insurance is most likely null and void.
Check with your state department, find out what is the status of the place you are traveling to, THEN check the exclusion clause of your travel insurance, to see if it is valid or not, based on what the state department rates your country of choice.
