Can I swich Dates without Penalty??

Hi everyone,

Something came up and we are not sure we can make our planned 7/10 trip, we want to move it to a later date. I called and they said that it will cost me $ 250 per adult ($500) to move the date because we are within 21 days of departure. Seems to me that they should not penalize us for moving the dates, I can understand if we cancel outright but we are not. we were looking to go in Sept. Anyone have a similar experience and can offer advise?

Also we have direct air on Air Jamaica, I am going to askl them if I ever get a live person on the phone, but fornow does anyone know their policy if we need to change the dates?

Last year we had to change our dates because of a family crisis, a death in the
family. We were outside the 21 days and the resort was no problem and that
part of the move went fine. They actually suggested that we totally cancel
and reschedule when we were ready. They gave us all our money back and
were very nice about it.

Be ready for the Air Jamaica side, though, because they will want more money
from you, a fly-day change fee. I think it was $150 per ticket.

The other thing was that they wouldn't just cancel the ticket and give us our
money back. They would simply take us off the flight manifest. When we
were ready, we would pay the change fee and be put on the new manifest
and the ticket was 'active' the whole time.

What this meant was that they could use the clause that we had one year
from the 'date of purchase' (not the original planned date of flight) to use the
ticket or lose it. This was important because we had bought the tickets several
months ahead of the original planned trip and that drastically cut into how long
we had to reschedule the vacation before we lost the full cost of the airfare.

For us, that was almost a problem since after the whole event of the death
it took us quite a while to get to where we were emotionally ready for a vacation.

Eventually, for us, it worked out and only cost us the extra $150 per plane
ticket.

I Called them today,H2 will reschedule the date with no extra charge, your right on, A/J will charge us $ 150 per ticket to change. We bought trip insurance so if this happened we wouldn't have to pay. Turns out I should of read the policy, unless I can get a Dr. to write me a note saying that we can go for medical reasons I am out $ 300.00

Looking to go is September now
