Until last year they were everywhere!! I am an animal lover but those cats freaked me out. some would stalk you when you were eating. Last year I only saw a few so I actually asked Winston if they were trapping or poisoning them to reduce the population. His reply was "they are on vacation somewhere". I love that man and can't wait to get back Friday!!!

We stayed at a couple of different places on our last trip. We were around the cats and some dogs. I get along well with animals but I picked up a worm that crawled around under my skin and itched like crazy. I had to buy some super medication to clear it up when we got back to vanilla land. So beware!

Ok so the thought of poisoning the cats makes me sick! Seriously. How about trap-neuter-return.

In reference to Clary1 post, I also contacted what the doctor thought was hookworm. This happened twice shortly after returning from JA. Doc questioned if I had been barefoot in the tropics. It seems the worm could be associated with cat feces. Extreme itching and expensive medication. I now stay out of grassy areas in bare feet and no problems last four visits.

I have been working with a local clinic for about 2 years, that is spaying and neutering resort animals. Its a huge task since they work with the locals and the animals that live on the resorts.

They always need stuff, from medical supplies, animal supplies to volunteers. The clinic is only open on Wednesdays but the rescue is open daily and all can use volunteers if you are in the area. As to being far away, money and supplies are always needed.

Sure thing, easiest way is through Facebook, but Negril Spay and Neuter Clinic and the Negril Pup Rescue. Both are helped out through the Jamaican SPCA or JSPCA.
