Benefits of booking with a group?

I have been to Hedo III once back in 2008 and this year my boyfriend and I will be booking Hedo II for Sept 7-14 (he’s a Hedo virgin). I noticed on the calendar that The Zoo Krew will be there the same time as us.

What are some of the benefits of booking with a group? Does anyone prefer to go on their own and not with a group? The room rate we got from our travel agent is actually a little bit cheaper than the the room price listed if we were to book with the Krew.

All depends on you and the group.
Some groups do activities, have prizes, give goodie bags upon your arrival.
Some have chats before hand so you get to meet your fellow group members before you arrive, etc.

I would check with the group that will be there when you want to go and see what they offer then do what's best for you.

WE have found the same. We get better pricing by NOT booking with a group. Most groups invite all to play in their beach or pool games. Yes there might be a give away upon arrival with the group, but the giveaway is not worth the several hundred we save by booking alone. So we just book the same time as our favorite groups, but not with the group.

We book independent of any group, or with a groups TA if the price is lower. We use a local bricks and mortar travel agent. Most of the time though we book outside of a group. Neither of the groups we are associated with care who we book with. If I recall correctly, when we traveled with the Krew, we booked independent of them, although that may have changed now (It was some years ago).
The advantage of a group (in addition to what cop said) is that they usually have a host that will take care of any front office issue you may have, as well as they will see to it that you have a fun time, and aren't stumbling around, and will get max value out of your vaca. As mentioned, the swag usually isn't worth the extra cost, but the customer care sometimes is.

One advantage that we experinced was that if there is a problem, you have group leaders that can go to bat for you. A few years back we did not have a room as the resort was “over booked”. After our group leaders spoke with management they found a room for us...we were upgraded from Garden View Regular to Oceanview Nude Hot Tub for the week!
