Booking a trip.. what am I doing wrong?

5 time Mexico vet so we decided to give Hedo a swing... But when I enter our dates (late June 2019) the price with air (Memphis, TN) is roughly $1,000 more than the same trip to DRM or even Pearl.

I've looked at it using Orbitz, Travelocity, Expedia (yes.. I know they're all the same company).. even tried booking through the Hedo website.. varying my dates... anything I can think of.

What gives? Is it really $1K more for a week's stay at Hedo or am I experiencing user error?

    error for sure!
it's way more than that... the price are similar to Mexico adult resort, some times cheaper, but generally the same... NOW the flight is a different thing depending which coast you fly from...

We always book our flight separate from booking Hedo. We book directly through Hedo for the first week of June, then we book our flight through Southwest. I would guess it is the flight that is adding all that extra cost. If you are going the last week of June the Garden View Natural room is $442/night. It might be the flight that is adding all the cost.

Yep.. it's gotta be the flight. Looking at our dates the flight alone for 2 to CUN is $828... to MBJ is $1,792.

Damn.. that's not a huge sum of money but enough to give us pause.

From Canada we found that yes, Hedo is a lot more than Desire. Depends where you fly from.

If you want the best rates for Hedo, use an agent like Tom's Trips, Char Travel etc... Booking on Hedo's website is generally more expensive. For flights, try Kayak.com aggregator.

Flights to MBJ are generally expensive because of the extremely high tax the Jamaican government imposes on air travelers, around $250 per ticket

Yes the flights are a bit more because of the Jamaican taxes our flights for the end of Apr. are $1200 for 2 from Baltimore to MBJ 3.5 hr flight time. However the biggest mistake I see is that do not book the off the shelf prices through Hedo check out what groups will be there during your week and join them. They don't require any participation with the group other then a min stay of usually 3 nights.

Definitely try a travel agency for booking your trip, you can usually get cheaper rates booking with a group, which will help. Flights are cheaper if you book them yourself most of the time but you can ask the travel agency to give you quotes on that as well. We book through Castaways Travel and they are amazing.

Damn I hate you guys for getting all the good prices flying south to the Caribbean (even the Alberta's get better deals than us) , then I think OH, they are from Sask, then I don't feel so bad, (you can keep your f$%ken cold winters). LOL, tongue in cheek.

This year we have flights from Seattle for $1300.00 CDN (for two) to MBJ. It was a fluke, and a lucky find. This is the cheapest we have EVER paid flying to Jamaica.

And for the original poster, DON'T book through HEDO, find one of the independent TA's and book with them. Air is almost always better booking yourself. Use something like Hipmunk or Google flights to find your flights.

Always best to book Airfare and Hedo separately. Go to dennyp.com he can book any group rate your wanting. Just find the "quote" button. There is also a group calendar you can look at.
