Are there anytime when room rates are lower?

You have to go through the hotel website to find the lower rates, 2019 rates are as low as 339 to 452 for the lowest cat. room.

And obviously rates will be lower in off season so think warmer months of the year aka hurricane season. However if you go that route be sure to see if hedo is doing any major renovation projects at the time. In recent years the off season is when they have been making some great improvements but it comes with a mess. Those with a lot more knowledge of future improvements can chime with how far along is with the renovations

August thru mid-October are usually the lowest $ and lowest occupancy, plus mid-December until the NYE crowd comes in. My favorite time to go is Feb when the humidity is low and the temps are awesome (aka why I host a group then). Prices are higher, but I find it worth it to escape winter. I also go with the AWOL group in July.

When looking for a deal, price compare and really know what is included, group rates are usually competitive or lower than direct resort rates and agencies like Castaways include airport transfers to/from the resort and give a military discount (with proof). Most groups also have a group page so you can meet peeps ahead of time and have giveaways that add to the fun.
