    Place to stay

    Guys and gals,

We are planning on going down a day early and staying in one of the resorts in negril, where is a nice hidden gem for a 1 night stay? We will be staying at Hedo from Oct. 27th to Nov. 3rd, so the night we need is for the 26th. Thanks for any help.

We were almost in that situation where we were going to have to find a place to stay for the first night and where were going to stay is at a place called Catcha Falling Star in Negril. Here is the link: https://www.catchajamaica.com We went to dinner there one night during our last Hedo vacation and the sunset dinner was really nice, as in afterward my wife said we WILL be going here every time we come to jamaica. If you check out the site click on the tab for the on site restaurant called Ivan's. it is also right next to Rick's Cafe, which I know is a little touristy but if you got bored at Catcha Falling Star in the day you could at least hang out there until sunset. If you actually stay there you have to have dinner at sunset there. And if you want to really do it up right you might consider the 100 candle sunset dinner. Google it for the images. It is a great way to have a romantic night out before you enter the mad party scene of hedo. Having said that we have never actually stayed there overnight so maybe some others who have can cast a vote either way. Not far from hedo either which is a plus and the restaurant can't get a bigger endorsement from us. Hope that helps

We are set for a night at the Sunrise Club Hotel. Never been there but it looks nice and it looks close.

I recommend CocoLaPalm. It is quite inexpensive, but clean, has a nice beach, lots of interesting stuff around it to walk to on the beach, and the excellent Best in the West jerk restaurant is directly across the street. We've stayed there for a night prior to Hedo, just as you are planning. The hardest part is driving past Hedo to get to it, LOL!

We agree. Plus there are some cool little bars if you make a right and walk the beach towards Margaritaville. Dinner at Catcha Falling Star is a unique experience too, with some pretty decent food and ambiance.

Negril Palms was a great inexpensive beautiful one night stay for our last trip. Less than a hundred dollars. Very nice room and nice little restaurant and bar. Didn't stay long enough to take advantage of the pool and beach, but they are nice also. Five dollar cab ride to Hedo early in the morning so as not to waste the day traveling. We will be back.

Has anyone been successful with finding BBC at Negril Palms?

Coco LaPalm is always great, spent a week there, such a nice piece of beach. If you want to stretch the experience Merrill's one two and three are down the beach and cater to Europeans and it's a little lifestylish I'd have to say. I've drank at their bar and partied with them, always in Hedo gear. Firefly I think might be gone, it was nude, a funny kind of nude, but I drank at their bar too and they were nice.

    Cheers

If you are looking for a hidden gem, then I agree with Catcha Falling Star (catchajamaica.com). Stayed there a couple of times and will be staying there again. The restaurant there, Ivan's, is a very popular and has most excellent food. We have run into folks from Hedo at Ivan's. I like that we get to experience this place before we head to Hedo because it is so hard for us to leave Hedo once there.
A number of the other suggestion are good too; it all depends on what you are looking for. Are you looking for cheap close place; are you looking to be on the beach; do the cliffs appeal to you? You can walk (or swim if you are up for it) to Rick's Café from Catcha Falling Star; so if you want to see Rick's café, then this might be a good option.
Here is link to some resorts in the area. http://www.negrilonestop.com/Negril-...Cliff-Resorts/ (at this site you can toggle between beach and cliff resorts)
    Have fun.

We have stayed there a couple of times and will stay there again. It is on the cliffs vs. the beach which we find a nice change as we have the beach at Hedo. The restaurant at Catcha Falling Star is Ivan's and we have run into several Hedo folks there. Top notch food. You can also walk to Rick's Café from Catcha Falling Star (or swim there if you are up for it). This might be a nice way to check it out without needing to leave Hedo.
http://www.negrilonestop.com/Negril-Resorts/ - you can check both cliff and beach resorts
Since we travel a long way and are usually beat by the time we arrive in Jamaica we find it nice to rest before heading to Hedo that way we are ready to enjoy all that Hedo has to offer.

We stayed at Negril Palms in June and are staying there again in October prior to our visit to Hedo. Clean rooms, nice grounds, nice restaurant, on the beach and cheap , got a room for 60 US ( book direct on thier website for best rates).

One thing I love about Jamaica is the incredible variety of accommodations in every price range. It's hard to make one recommendation. Do you want to spend $40, $80, $150 or $250 per night? What is important to you? How "nice" does it have to be? Do you want to be in party central or a quiet retreat?
