We're lucky this hasn't happened to us. We now use a line one of our friends uses... "We're going to a timeshare with some friends we met a couple years ago while on vacation, it's just off Negril beach, a small place, it only has a dozen rooms or so"...

This gives us a good explanation why we continue to go to Jamaica repeatedly and no one expects an invitation or recommendation. When asked for details, we just stay vague... drink, beach, relax, time with each other, etc. Nobody has ever asked for more information, and if they did, it would probably be because they know about Hedo.

My husband and I have been to Hedo twice and are going again over New Year's. We've vaguely used the "Sandals" bit, but usually people are good when we just tell them we're going to Negril. So many resorts can be found in Jamaica, and I've found that most people aren't familiar with the area. That being said, when we go this next time, we are actually going to be staying the week before at another resort up the road a few miles for the first week (of two) to celebrate our daughter's destination wedding. The only people going are the kids, their little kiddo, and my hubby's ex (daughter's mom) and her husband. I have a feeling we will be experiencing just what you are talking about! Since we are all family (in a manner of speaking with the ex), delicacy will be required, especially due to living in a small town (read "where your business is everyone's business). While uncomfortable with not telling where we will be staying that second week, we've more or less figured that if it gets out, it gets out. We're adults well over consenting age. We're just not going to broadcast it. It's our vacation, and we work hard to be able to vacation how WE want to, so if it's a problem, it's THEIR problem, not ours. Good luck with your dilemma! Hopefully you'll enjoy your next trip as much as we plan on enjoying ours.

Be honest about going to hedonism. With the reason Passion4Diving provided. Excellent advice. I lived that life for years. Keeping your stays at hedonism private seems to keep the excitement alive with most people; however, If you look at tripadvisor, my Hedonism review alone has been seen by 14 thousand people. I get notifications every once in a while LOL. Even the most religious husbands and wives love sex, and connecting with their spouse... even if they don't admit it LOL...My father was a minister and mother a ministers wife. Aunts and uncles and cousins...all religious charismatics. When I told them I frequent hedonism, they were appalled, but they got over it and a lot of people around me started opening up, telling me how much they wish they could go to Hedonism

It is too bad that we have to tell friends and family that we are going to Sandals or other resorts in Jamaica but I guess that is the reality of the judgmental world we live in. I agree with Passion4diving and be honest with your friends. You could tell them that you enjoy the freedom of being being nude, the atmosphere and the people you have met at Hedo. Who knows they may want find a baby sitter so that they can get a day pass and join you. We have to live and enjoy our lives and not worry what others may think.

Have fun on your next trip.

I've been to a bunch of Sandal's, they are awesome resorts (my sister is a TA Sandal's specialist) I have the little Sandals they give repeaters and everything. Pretty sure you don't want to spend hours researching a big lie to tell so my advice goes like this. These resorts are big with a lots to do. Two groups could have two different experiences there.

    Typical questions

How did you like the gourmet dining, Ans: We were usually too tired after a day on the beach, we ate at the buffett.
How was the disco? Ans: We don't really go in for the the late night stuff as we are on the beach all day.
Did you golf? ans: Way too hot. but the course looked lovely.
We especially liked having coffee on the beach early in the morning when it was quiet.

See, not really a single lie in that bunch. I find that people only ask a few questions at most even when they've been to the same resort. You might want to check to see if the resort has anything unusual about it as they'd remember that for sure and you probably would know about it. We stayed somewhere in Jamaica that had a full size tree in the bar inside, very cool, so you would need to know about that stuff.

    Cheers

Tell them that the Sandals Negril is currently undergoing renovations that might impact their stay. Tell them you've heard fabulous things about the ones in Montego Bay and Ocho Rios and are considering trying them for a future stay (although we both know you never will....hahahaha). Then you can hear all about their experience at one of the other Sandals resorts without having to compare it to your own.
