    WestJet pilots strike

    Hi everyone.
Is anyone using WestJet for flights to Jamaica in May-June?
I read that there is a potential pilots strike that may impact WestJet flights. This has made me hesitant and I am thinking of postponing my trip when I am certain that there is no strike.
Any thoughts of anyone using WestJet in the short run?
    Thanks.

Local news here suggested it might be time for plan B. They also said Air Can was adding more flights and would match Westjet prices, with a receipt, if you needed to book with them. Westjet said a full refund if they go on strike. So I take that to mean, Westjet cancels, you get a full refund, then walk over to AC, and book with them for the same price. The union, by law, has to issue a 72 hour notice before they can withdraw service.

We are flying on June 6. We are keeping our fingers crossed things will work out. Air Canada does have seats available for about the same price but I don’t think you can get a refund from WestJet until the pilots actually give notice unless you use your travel insurance. Positive thoughts it will work out.

We are arriving June 5th and overnighting at the Palms instead of arriving late to the resort. We had Westjet flights but canceled within 24 hours and are now on Air Canada. Actually less money than Westjet. Unlikely westjet willl go on strike. See you there

So you were able to cancel your WestJet flights without any penalty? Did you just call? We like the WestJet flights because it gets there 4 hrs earlier we are going straight to the resort. We may give it a couple more days before we panic.

We are overnighting at the Palms as well, on Friday June 8th! Then heading to Hedo at 7am Sat. Morning!
15 days till we are home again. And I haven't even gotten the suitcases out.
    Guess I better start packing!

You can only cancel without penalty within 24 hours of booking. WestJet flight arrives at 1 pm Air Canada flight at 3:10 so approx. 2 hours earlier.
