    lobster night

Lobster night has to be my greatest disappointment with hedo. It has to be an expensive meal for hedo, so how can they fuck it up so bad? I realize it is not something that can be done on a large scale, but there has to be a better way. No matter how much butter or other seasoning, it is dry, over cooked and taste nothing like lobster. Am I the only one that feels this way?

we have had the good and bad as you say, my better half got really sick when she ate one that was under cooked, so maybe that is the reason they overcook them. During new years eve party/dinner, they usually have 3 or 4 grills going and lobster flying off the grills as fast as they can get them on. When cooking for that many people, it is hard to get all things right with the cooking, try cooking for 4 or 5 hundred, not an easy task by no means.
Also those old spiney lobsters are not very tasty any way, give me a fresh large lobster off the Carolina coast, throw him in an aluminum tray with butter and old bay seasoning, cook until done and chow down. does not get any better.

Gonna be honest here, I enjoy lobster night enough that we stayed an extra night to have it twice. Is it the best lobster I've ever had...nope but it's all you can eat lobster fresh off the grill. Any trip to paradise where my big complaint was "the lobster was kinda dry" sounds like a pretty good trip to me.

We usually go off the resort on Fridays but we stayed last time. It was the first time we had it. A little dry but tasted great. Yeah kind of hard to do on a large scale but it was a treat nevertheless. We would def do it again.

We just got back and had 2 lobster nights. One plate had 2 tails, one perfectly cooked and one over cooked. In general they are a little over cooked. Since we never have lobster anywhere else, it is good enough.

I honestly have had better lobster from The Office of Nature in Bloody Bay, and from Fireman on the beach, but all-inclusive lobster is still acceptable to this land-locked seafood lover.

My wife and I love to eat lobster any chance we get. Some we like better than others, and our Hedo lobster was good. We're easy to please though, as we can't remember anywhere that we have eaten it and been dissapointed.

yes cooking for that many can be a challenge, but they do it every week so not an excuse!
yes caribbean hot water lobster does not look like or taste like cold lobster, so that is one big difference.
Jamaican cooks have been eating fish and lobster very cooked all their life, i would imagine in school it would not be much different... North American cooks are thought in school to cook fish and lobster just enough and not to go over the well-done side cause its too much...

we had 3 Friday night of lobsters and 2 out of 3 were good, but more importantly go early... if you go around 8pm that lobster is pre-cooked than re-cooked on the grill so already it does not have much chance to be fantastic, but at least if you go 7pm to 7:30pm you will get a touch better product.

the most important thing to do when traveling to a Third World country is to manage your expectations. North American standards are very high, so big chance you won't get the amazing food you are use to whether it is burger, steaks or lobster. some dishes they do very well. this pass trip I had the cook at the nude grill do me a soft fish taco, she had never done that and could not understand the whole thing, you could see it in her face! she knows now!

and YES, i am chef, 32 years!

Well that explains why we've never had lobster at H2, Damn.

Same here.... never heard of Lobster night at Hedo but we always go in June so that explains it. Oh well.... shrimp would be great. Hoping they still do the night with sushi as well because I remember years ago it was delicious!

Had it cooked to perfection, and had it overcooked/dry. It's grilled rock lobster, don't compare it to a boiled Maine lobster.
I still look forward to it every trip. Early April you can usually still get lobster (skewers) at Flame, they serve it instead of the crab cakes to finish off their stock. For a real good lobster go to Xtabi.
