Hotel suggestion arriving early?

So seems that flights are cheaper for us if we arrive Friday (day early). Besides it'd be nice to be able to have the entire first day in the resort rather than traveling so we are thinking of doing this and flying in early. Does anyone have suggestions for safe and inexpensive places to stay near Hedo? How does that work with transfers and what is the earliest you've been able to head over to Hedo? Looking for anyone else that's done this for tips and suggestions.

There is a similar thread "finding a local hotel in Negril" that has been posted in the forum with a few suggestions.
We're doing the same thing at the end of April - coming in late on a Saturday night staying at Coco La Palm. Never been there, but we'll find out at then. Previous posters have rated it good. There a a bunch of other ones in Negril to check out. A taxi between there and Hedo shouldn't be more than a few bucks.

We get in on Fridays too and stayed at Negril Palms which is just 5 min past Hedo. Negril Palms was inexpensive, clean, had a safe in the room and we felt very safe there. The bus driver was willing to drop us off at Negril Palms after he dropped everyone else at Hedo. I think we only paid $60 for our room on Expedia. We tossed our stuff into our room, enjoyed walking along the beach for an hour and then at dinner in the hotel restaurant. They we crashed early since we had been up all day traveling. We were at the check out desk at 7 am the next morning and paid the bus driver $5 to take us back to Hedo where we had breakfast! Hedo doesn't mind at all if you arrive early, but your room probably won't be ready. They stored our luggage in a room in the lobby, while we went to the beach. We were able to check in to our Hedo room by noon on Sat!
We saved money and got to enjoy being at Hedo all day Sat. We will be doing the same thing this June.

Anyone know of an overnight hotel that is WALKING distance to Connie's Country and Western Pub?

Point Village is next door. Their units can be found on VRBO and Air BB.
Essentially it's walking distance to Hedo!

The Spa Retreat is probably the closest. There's also Home Sweet Home and New Moon cottages not too far away and Villa La Cage is just down a side road.
