Room upgrade question

We are first timers to Hedo and are at 18 days and counting down to arrival. The company we booked with only offers the standard rooms so we have booked a prude garden view. I called the resort today to ask about possible upgrades and they only have nude side premium rooms available. The nude side doesn't really bother us but the cost of the upgrade was a little high, like an extra $150 a night for the standard ocean view premium and $250 a night for jacuzzi ocean view VIP rooms. My question is, is it worth it? I know we will not spend a ton of time in the room but the pictures on the website sure make the premium rooms look nice. Also, would we be better to wait until we arrive to try to upgrade? Has anyone gotten a great deal on a premium room onsite instead of in advance?

We've never stayed in a premium room but personally we don't think they are worth it. Our first trip we had prude garden view booked and they moved us up to prude ocean view. Not sure if they do this for first timers to try to have them book those rooms the next visit or not but it did work on us lol. We loved the prude ocean view rooms. However, you really don't spend much time in your room so I'd just wait and see if they move you up to a different room....not that you will get a premium room but you may get an ocean view room.

Just my opinion, but the view from the ocean view rooms is not so great (blocked by trees, etc), so that it really is not a benefit compared to garden view. But, it really is more about the location of the room than the view. If you (like us) spend most all of your time at the nude pool/beach/hot tub, then 1. Nude side rooms are less of a walk and 2. Nude side ocean view are even less of a lesser walk. Now if you upgrade to a Jacuzzi room, that is a big change. If ocean view, you can walk out from your room to the beach, and you have your own Jacuzzi, which can be fun if you like to host your own party. You'll find all types of opinions about cost vs. location of the room, but what we have liked best is nude side, ocean view, closest to the pool. We found it nice to be able to quickly go from room to pool, beach, etc. It was a longer walk to dining, but we only go there two or three times a day anyway.

FYI.... On one of our trips we booked ocean view nude, and ended up right behind the prude grill... Ohh you could sea the ocean if you opened the window and practically hung ourselves outside the windo to look around the grill...not a happy camper when you pay for that kind of an upgrade....

For us paying extra for the Ocean View Premium rooms is just not worth it. We would rather use the extra money and stay an extra night or two. We are seldom in our room and see the beach and ocean all day, so not worth the extra money for us to see it from our room too. We always book Garden View Prude, sometimes we get an upgrade and sometimes we don't...just not a big deal for us. Your mileage my vary....enjoy

we have stayed in the premium room... just not worth it to us... we stay GVR and stay a 10 nights cheaper then 7 nights in the premium rooms... just not worth the cash.... but thats us.

Thanks to everyone for the help. Aside from the views is the difference in the amenities between the standard and premium rooms worth the upgrade? Have the standard rooms been renovated?

We always stay Prude Ocean and ask to be at the end near Sandals. It's not that far of a walk, and quieter at night for sleeping.

Shhhhhhh. That’s our idea of the Best room on property. Nice view, nice walk, and quiet. We like the very last room on the second floor.

We've stayed all over the resort but have found the block right in front of the spa to be ideal location for us.

We think the block in front of the spa is perfect...close to everything and quiet.

My best advice, book the prude garden view. First, it is clothing optional, second if you are lucky you might get a free upgrade to the nude side, it happended to us in the past.
