What the heck does DIF mean?

DIF is used to calculate the 6-circle diffractometer positions that correspond to a point in reciprocal space for a given crystal. This can be used to make sure that a region in reciprocal space is accessible for the 9.4 station diffractometer. Before this can be done, however, the UB matrix must be calculated and diffractometer mode, fixed angles and wavelength defined.

omg A + J. That has totally confused me. I thought DIF meant "DO IT FREELY" what on earth is a 6-circle diffractometer? That sounds as weird as a syberian. The toys you american's have are amazing, are they available in Macy's or Wallmart? lol
