Our trip this year again I went back to the same online site ad again beat the group rate and again this had first class air included. Oh and all our trips were in June and is in USD.
So the deals are out there you just need to spend a little time to find.
I wish we could find deals like you do!

Well I did see this thread is quite old but hey the cowgirl posted...this is our first time going, put it out there, challenge accepted and booked a couple days later. Saw groups and since we've really never investigated the sociology or anthropology of the lifestyle didn't know if it was accessible or what that'd be like. Agreed I looked on the gnome's site and Expedia and the like they were all popping up some room that looked avg at like 1100/night....you know how much beer that buys?!? So anyway before things got less vacant we just went with the hedonism site...about 2kUSD 4days ocean view premium oh natural. Maybe we'll try a group next time. From what I read, I think there'll be a next time!!

We just booked our third trip to Hedo. Being in Canada, it was significantly cheaper to book a package with Sunwing. Although I can see the benefits of booking with a group, I cannot justify spending an extra $1500 on the vacation.

We travel out of Canada, so the group deal is excruciatingly expensive, with the exchange rate to US$. We book an all inclusive and if we’re lucky enough get the bump to Business Class.

Actually no, the group deal is not always excruciating.

Currently, Sunwing is advertising our two weeks next year for $1400.00CDN more than we paid for the resort (group rate) and separate air. And we are there for 17 days (14/3 package). Granted, their room is GN and ours is GP.

    You need to shop around.

OBTW, we have to travel across Canada, before turning right in Toronto toward MBJ. That pretty much doubles the airfare from YYZ

It is worth the extra $35 US per person to get the cancellation insurance through Hedo or a group booking. For Canadians booking through Sunwing, the Canadian travel company (only one that offers western Canadians direct flights to Jamaica), it is $50 Canadian per person for cancellation insurance. We have been thankful for the Canadian discount offered by Hedo the last few years because otherwise even though we still pay more than Americans; without the discount as Canadians we would be paying an extra 25% as our dollar hoovers around 75 cents.

We, western Canadians paid $6670 Canadian for 14 nights Gardenview Prude Sept 21 to Oct 5 including airfare and transfer through Sunwing ($1648 less than Air Canada Vacations). Our pre booked (as of Dec 2017 before we left the resort for discount) price through DennyP with the 14 booked 3 free 17 nights Dec 2 to Dec 19, 2018 is approximately (depends on exchange rate end of July when balance is due), is $6058 plus $1600. airfare.
As already mentioned only through group booking or directly through Hedo can you get the book 14 get 3 free nights deal. Also if the lowest priced category Gardenview Prude is not available for the duration of your trip then you can count on an increase of $1000. or more to the total cost.

Thats a great deal at $6670 CDN with air Juicy. But not available from everywhere, like Vancouver, even for your dates. As well the dates we choose in April (with Sunwing from YVR) are way up there. Your Dec trip is more like what we got in April. Sunwing air is pricey (for our dates) from YVR. Didn't realize Hedo gave discounts for Canadians. I know Super Clubs used to do that.

We also like to travel to Jamaica in April but find it to be a very expensive time of the year. One year we paid exactly half for a Jamaica trip in August as we did in April.

For us, our trip next week was more expensive than the one we took in March, by almost $500!

We have done both and we like going with a group. We seem to have more fun.

Also, what kind of benefits would there be with booking through a group? Such as rates, parties, access to online groups so we can get to know others beforehand, etc.

We also have done both, and in our opinion, there is really no downside by traveling with a group. It is still our vacation, we participate in any group activities that we choose, or sometimes we just do our own thing, the group stuff is there is you want it, and we are free to not participate if we don't want to. Plenty of up sides by being with a group, such has price, activities, off-site excursions, parties, charity events etc. So which ever route you choose, you will likely love it
