    Recommendations for First Timers

Hi everyone. My wife & I are looking at booking our first trip to Hedo and wondering to get some tips on what time of year and what travel company / airline to book with. We are flexible with respect to time of year, and we'd be travelling from Canada. I ask because I had a look at Sunwing to Hedo in January and it was $8,000 for two, which made me choke on my tongue a little bit. I heard prices went up a bit, but this seems drastic.

    Thanks for any comments.

We are from Calgary and have traveled there different times of the year, can't say that one month is better than the other really as long as we get away in the winter for a week or two. The past few years we have booked the room with different travel groups (Dream Pleasure Tours, Young Swingers Week, and Nood Brood coming Feb 2018) and then book the airline tickets with Westjet or Air Canada usually with Westjet dollars or Air Miles (this is the best way to get a deal we find). We have booked through Sunwing, Marlin, Etc. in the past but being from Calgary you are limited on travel dates and times, etc. Check out the Hedo web site, find a group that mat appeal to you and get room prices from them, then look at the airline flights pricing. in the end you will find the $8K is probably where you'll end up at. Also extending more than 7 days will bring down the average price per day by getting more days for your flight price, we usually go 10 days and end up about $1,000 a day, not cheap! Good luck.

I just checked Redtag vacations and as an example I entered January 13-20. The least expensive package was with Sunquest Vacations (flight with WestJet) for just under $6,000 from Toronto We used to go in that time frame and switched to April for better pricing but even that is going up considerably. We have used U.S. travel agents, which can be good, but we are at the mercy of International exchange rates (the Limping Loonie).

We are from NY and knew nothing about groups for our first trip, we tried booking through the Hedo website and all the rooms were sold out in February. So we started to look around and found a Canadian agent Sell off vacations, they were very nice and took good care of us. Now we booked with the Fluffernutters for Feb 2018 and are actually thinking about flying out of Canada because we can get more direct flights and better rates

I believe mid-April through mid-December are considered off-peak, with the exception of a few weeks like Halloween. That's when we tend to travel. For a basic room + flights, we usually budget $4k to $5k USD.

Thanks very much for your comments - very helpful. I suppose it comes down to If You Want To Play, You Gotta Pay - fair enough.

I am in Chicago and I booked a full week early august for 3500 for two of us through cheap Caribbean including ground transfers, I thought that seemed a little high even!

FYI - $3,500 USD = $4,666 CAD today. Not bad but it is the low season you will not find those prices in the winter season.

Adding to previous post it was Garden View Prude, not sure if this room category is still available on those dates.

Great price too considering everything. I guess the end price is also significantly based on the room type as well. We always book nude beach view, don't know why as we could get much better deal prude garden view. But at the end of the day, the room type will be a big factor in total price.

We fly out of Toronto or Montreal whatever is cheaper, and it is much cheaper then flying from the west of Canada. We always book the cheapest room available, we only use the room for "sleeping" and showering anyway and it's a just short walk to the nude side.

We are fellow Canadians and plan to make our 2nd trip the 1st wk of Dec 2017. We are looking at $4400 for a GVR from Ottawa with switchover in TO with Westjet. Last year we payed $3800 for the same wk with direct flight with Sunwing.

Currently because of the sad Canuck buck, we find dealing with Canadian travel agaents to be a better choice dollar wise than dealing with any of the US based travel agents, even the ones promoting specific groups. Of the six quotes we got for April 2017, none of the usual US based TA's that frequent Hedo could beat the Canadian price we got.
When the dollar was closer to par, the US agents had better pricing.
Good deals can be had (from Canada) if you can bundle the air and the resort, as in a package deal from AC or Westjet or Sunwing.
Life is too short for drama and petty things, so kiss slowly,
laugh insanely, fuck like you're the star of a porn film, and forgive quickly.
