Umbrellas in nude pool -- like/dislike?

Just got back a couple of weeks ago, and there are umbrellas in the nude pool at three of the four tables inside the pool. For those of you who have been recently, did you like or dislike them?

My two cents -- I missed having full sun in the nude pool. Without the sun, the pool water was a little on the cool side for me. Yes, there is sun and warm water at the beach, but I prefer the vibe at the pool most of the day. Have to admit, I was a little disappointed that it's mostly shaded now.

I believe they are there because the black marble new tops they put on, which get very hot in the direct sun, to protect anyone from getting burned.

How much of the area is shaded now?

I managed to burn my arm last July. I would assume since it is black it would retain more heat and would save them from any incidents.

In the warmer months I've been there I would have loved a little shade.... the corners, where it gets shady naturally, is always full. It would be nice if they were able to be closed / removed in cooler months. Maybe an awning for the hot bar top.

Yeah, I get that's probably why they installed the umbrellas. The dark (marble or granite?) surface on the bar does get incredibly hot in the sun.

I do hope the umbrellas are a temporary fix, and they have plans to keep the bar surface cool some other way and bring sun back to the nude pool. They already offer one shady pool on the c/o side, and it's rarely used.

We love them. Just a little more shade when you need it. They also block rain on those rainy days. So basically, there is a larger area by the bar where you can get a little protection from the overhead elements when you want it.

Didn't have problem with them at all. We enjoy the sun but sometimes we need a little shade. I think the water temp had more to do with clouds during the week than the umbrellas so the sun never got a chance to warm up the water.

The sun in Jamaica can be brutal, especially during the spring and summer months. I like the umbrellas.

Personally, I like the shade. Getting fried in the Jamaican sun for a week is not good for your skin. What they need are some solar panels to heat the pool water. The water runs through black plastic mats they put on the roof of a building and heats the pool from the sun. We have them on our pool in Florida and it is way warmer than Hedonism's pool.

Option for shade is always welcome. When the sun is too hot it's nice to have a place to hide. Look forward to seeing the new Reno's soon.

I thought the shade from the umbrellas was really nice, even in February. We could huddle under them in the too-bright sun or rain, and if we got chilly we'd just pop back out into the sun. Plus, the pool is still primarily uncovered. I hope they keep the umbrellas.

We liked the umbellas as well. There is still plenty of sun on the pool and in the afternoon there are a lot of people huddled in the shade of the pool bar...which can make it more difficult to get a drink lol. This past trip they were a good haven from the rain, and a good place to meet others seeking shelter.

And they do close if you wanted more sun in the area.

Sounds like an eye just waiting to be poked! More shade does sound good. Us pasty peeps don't all fit in that little corner!
