    DRM Newbies / Hedo Vets

    Hey y'all,

So we've been to Hedo 3 times (love it) but feel it's time for a change and Desire RM seems to fit the bill. We have a couple of concerns.

First, while we like to relax on the beach, play sports and be active, we also love the party atmosphere every afternoon and evening at Hedo. We're told Desire is much smaller and so quite a bit quieter. Will we be bored? Of course, we can always create our own party (pretty damn'd good at that if this morning is any guide) but we like to meet new people etc...

Also, we're told it's best to go to RM when a big group is there. The issue seems to be that when a big group is there, the resort has 7 night minimums and for a first RM trip, we're thinking 4 or 5 nights is good.

We hear the food, rooms and service are a few notches higher than Hedo but the social aspect, maybe not so much. Thoughts? Suggestions? Recommendations?

If you are in the lifestyle and your sole purpose is to meet other couples for a rendezvous, RM is the place. It is very easy to hookup. If this is not your top priority, definitely Hedo. My wife and I are not swingers and I was extremely bored at Desire during the day. The daily activities are just hanging out at the pool laying about. We actually hung out at a bed near the beach everyday. The beach is very small (10 ft?). Activities are minimal and they charge for everything. The night was much better. The dance club and the hot-tub were very fun. The place is very tiny compared to Hedo.

You could break your vacation up and hit Pearl for a couple of days then RM. They are only 5 miles apart and will give you a taste for both resorts. Pearl is bigger, but not as fun. Just really a different scenario.

We personally won't be back, but again, we are not in the lifestyle. If you are, then I can see the value in Desire and you would love it. Again, you have 200 people all looking for sex with each other.

There's a million hedo vs desire threads so no need to revisit here, but I can tell you as "seasoned" Hedo vets (7 trips between HIII and HII) before taking the plunge at Desire, there is nothing to "worry" about. The daily rhythm is different, but plenty action packed. Desire has EC led pool games, a foam party, good music, etc. perhaps not quite the "in your face" push that the Hedo EC's exhibit, but thats fine with us - we like to socialize during the day. We dont need any "help" from the staff.

As indicated, the rhythm at Desire differs a bit from Hedo. Where Hedo does the breakfast, pool, cleanup, slutwear parade at the main bar, dinner, show, piano bar, hot tub, bed... Desire does breakfast, pool, hot tub, cleanup, dinner, show, disco, hot tub, mosquito bar pizza, bed.

And yes, plenty of opportunity to hook up.

Thanks for the responses. We "took the plunge" and booked with the Life on the Swingset group in early November. We are beach people so the small beach with little to do is concerning. We like to take out little day sailers and can't tell from the poor quality Desire website if that's an option and if they charge for it. Same question on paddleboards etc... Guess we'll bring a frisbee.

I'm sure we'll have a blast and look forward to it and trying someplace different.

We had our first trip to DRM last December. We had a great time, and have some observations that might shed some light on some of your questions: The rooms are pretty nice - depending upon where you are, some are newly re-done and really nice, but all are nice. The resort is pretty small - the good news about that is you will likely make some great new friends. The down side is you'll find it hard to avoid people you'd rather not be around. The pool is terrific, and seems to be the central focus for the "active crowd" throughout the day. The beach was eroding badly when we were there, and the seaweed was horribly bad. As a result, it seemed that when we where there the couples that wanted to spend most of their time alone hung out at the beach, while the social crown hung at the pool. Its not a huge party atmosphere (at least when we were there). Its more of a chill crowd during the day with people hanging out together drinking, talking, touching and some light play (no public sex acts at the pool). Each day, late afternoon, some people who more into swinging leave the pool to grab a meal and maybe a nap before heading to the HUGE rooftop hot tub - this is where the party at DRM takes place. The hot tub will hold 30 people or so easily and has a fully stocked and staffed swim-up bar. The crowd that is more into swinging goes here and parties and plays until the wee hours. Lots of action takes place here and its a blast - really, the best part of DRM in our opinion. Next morning, its back to the pool where the hot tub crowd run across one another grinning, laughing and chatting about what all had happened the night before (lol). We stayed 8 days and, honestly, by day 6 we could have left and been absolutely satisfied with our trip. We were TIRED the last couple of days, especially after saying bye to some great folks who had to leave before we did. Two things are really fun: First night, when you're the "new people" arriving at the hot tub, you'll be treated like the most deliciously attractive people on the planet by those who've been there a few days. ENJOY THIS Second, once you're no longer the "new people," make a point out of warmly greeting the new people coming in-especially the first-timers/lifestyle newbies. We helped more than a few couples get introduced around the hot tub and answered questions/eased nerves for them.

Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated. We're going for 6 nights and are generally quite social so meeting people is not a usual concern. I hope the beach is in better condition than it was for your trip. We tend to drift back and forth between beach/pool.

We have been to hedo once and loved it! we are looking at trying DRM in late April. Are the theme nights as fun as hedo?
