As I'm saying this out loud, 450 a night, I'm shocked. But I expect it's well worth it, it being our first time and probably an experience of a lifetime :-)
    Hi Sabine,

We are from Belgium and I understand what you mean. But, if you stay at the resort, you don't need more money. You need money for your souvenirs or your excursion. We went to Mexico and to Spice (Lanzarote) and it's the same. Cap D'Agde is more expensif ! Unfortunatly, our ticket fly is more expensif that you came from US or Canada. Enjoy your trip and, for sure, you will have a great time ...

For what it's worth, this thread had me go back and check previous years rates. In 2009 we paid $15.00USD less (PP,PN) than we are paying this year (April 2017). Same time frame same room class (GP). Not a bad increase in my opinion. We've had better rates for this room class, depending on what "deals" were offered. The big kick in the balls, is the exchange rate of 30% on the Canuck buck. We've lessened that by using a credit card without the traditional 2.5-3.0% foreign transaction fee. We also use a local travel agent, familiar with H2, that shops around for the best deal from a wholesaler. She consistently gets better prices than the tradition American TA's that sell H2 to the Americans. Super Clubs used to offer price breaks to non Americans, but the new owners don't seem to want to do this. Even Disneyland is offering Canadians a 25% discount. Airfare, for whatever reason has stayed reasonably consistent, from this part of the world (Western Canada). 38 sleeps till we go home.

We decided to try Desire Pearl this year. Booked an Ocean View Room from 5/11-5/19 for $3900. Same dates at Hedo for a Ocean view au natural is $3948. Neither include cost of transportation, travel insurance, or airfare.

so sad after many great trip and times at Hedo they are pricing us out. They have increased the prices and and have only "up dated" the resort to what it should be any way. We can go to Sandals, nd many similar for not much more than Hedo now. Of cause we would miss out on the great people at Hedo, but at the the end of the day we want great food, surroundings and all that goes with the REAL 5* experience. Its almost doubled for us in UK....I think they getting a little greedy, and playing on the "Ol pals act" we all love. Hopefully if they have a lean year will re think it.

We are by no means seasoned travelers but a few things we noticed, Hedo was less then traveling on the Oasis Cruise Ship for us for a 7 day trip and alot of things where not included. When we traveled to Hedo everything was included except the expresso coffee and massages.
One big thing for us, well my wife, was scuba diving which was included.. when we where in Mexico it was 200USD per trip to go Scuba diving so she was not able to do it more then once on that trip, at hedo once she realized it was included she went every day .. which would be about a 600USD value in other places we traveled.

Also we have been to so called 5* resorts and did not find them any better then hedo with the exception of the rooms being a bit nicer, but we did not really spend much time in our room at hedo unless we where actually sleeping. Perhaps we are not as cultured as some people and can not appreciate what 5* actually means but for us we are ok with the current prices of a hedo stay, we never had so much fun

We find hedo on par or cheaper than most of the comparable resorts in Jamaica. I.e sandals. I'm sure you can always find a cheap beach destination but we go to hedo for a reason I don't mind paying a bit more with in reason. As long as it's similar to the other resorts on the island it's all irie.

Are you sure that's due to price hikes or the British pound value? I know as Canadian our dollar always kills us when we go on vacation.

Our trip this year is up about 30% for the same time period as last year. However, all other comparable AI resorts in Jamaica were up in price by approximately the same percentage, so it's not just Hedo.
The Canadian dollar is roughly the same as it was this time last year (at least not 30% different) so I don't think that is entirely the issue.

As a travel provider, this year we have seen cost go up everywhere. USA hotels, Cancun Resorts, and of course Hedonism II. All of them somewhere between 15% and 25%. (Actually the only place that's down is is the UK, Canada and Europe as the Pound and Euro is down) As no one was traveling for a few years hotels cut prices, and did not build new hotels (they are busy now building and trying to catch up) Look for the group rates to go up as well. (we've heard many rumors) The new owner (Harry) has an inside track on what the hoteliers are doing and uses this information. Hedonism has been in bad need of an uplift for a few years. I was there the year before the sale.. food was bad, staff was bad, and rooms were worse. Issa was not spending any money on the resort, just taking money out. I hated hearing " we'll am am not there for the rooms or food". A resort should never here those words. For me it just seems a bit greedy. As far as the cost, you can watch the prices of hotels in the USA and see where they are going, Hedonism will follow. At least the new owner is trying to upgrade. We would still like to see the rest of the rooms upgraded, but they are charging a huge premium for those rooms. It's is the only place on earth like it. There is nothing anywhere like the erotic charge and flavor of Hedonism. Even the lifestyle cruises are not comparable. So save you pennies or pence, do one less dinner out per week, eat your lunch bagged, cut coupons, or what ever it takes. You'll want to come back. As Dorthy say's there is no place like home.

FWIW,everything I purchase with regularity is going up at inexplicable rates, including something I purchase regularly at the hardware store that went up about 25%.It's the result of unbridled spending worldwide devaluing currency.
