Snorkeling off the beach

I know you can get fins for going out in the snorkel boat but what about just to swim off the beach? I seem to remember that it used to be that they would only loan equipment for "official trips". Is that still the case? I bring a prescription mask and my own snorkel, but I would prefer to borrow fins.

From what I understand they will let you borrow them anytime, you just sign them out.. They even have water shoes you can sign out so you don't step on the sea urchins that are hiding within the roped off area..

Get snorkels, masks and fins at the dive shop.

In July I counted 15 lobsters under rocks by the jetty. A really cool puffer fish. Some cool fishes and 3 huge starfish.

Last trip we used items out of the dive shop.

We hqve done the official snorkel trips, but frankly we saw more cool stuff just snorkeling around the beach than we ever have on the boat trips.
