Beautiful Beach Options??? Best private transfer options?

This will be our 2nd trip and looking forward to seeing upgrades Oct.1-8, 2016, however, the beach I remember was marginal at best. We plan on doing the Catamaran Cruise, but if we want to spend one day on a beach with beautiful blue water and white sand, what are the options? I read 7 mile beach near restaurant area in Negril was great, but where should we go out of tourist traps but near a bar for drinks? Also, any recommendations for private transfers from airport and is Club Mobay worth it? I know that week will be busy. Thanks for your help! Already packing!

If you walk the beach from H2 towards Negril, just past Sandals is a bar on the beach, the name escapes me right know, but they have beach chairs, food, and alcohol and free WiFi, and its like a ten minute walk from Hedo, along the beach. You could easily skip back to H2 for a meal then come back to the beach.

If I remember correctly it's called The Boardwalk.

Yes - It's Boardwalk Village I think. IMHO, walking another ~20 min to Cosmos is well worthwhile. Cosmos has been around for decades. It's on a very pretty part of Long Bay beach (aka "7 mile beach"), with nice powder-sugar sand. They have good food & drinks, and that part of the beach is relatively lightly trafficed by vendors & hustlers. A taxi back will cost $3-5/couple. (Be sure to agree on the price before getting into any cab.)

For transfers, we use Michael (previously one of Hedo's bellmen), and Biggs (friend of Myron, Hedo's old divemaster). Both are great. $60/couple each way is the usual fee. Shout if you want their #s.

You could try "Half Moon Beach" near Green Island. It is a funky little place about 20 minutes north of Negril. I saw some people skinny dipping there early in the morning.

In our opinion Club Mobay is well worth it, exspecially when 4-5 planes land one right after the other and they Corel you at the customs area like cattle.. NO AC or fans either, but with club Mobay you by pass all that and go to a line of their own and are quickly through.. One of their employees walk you through the whole process right to the bus or cab.. And on the return, there is an adult section and a family section, seating and couches with tvs rather than sitting on the hard airport seating. All food and drinks including alcohol drinks included. Our theory is if we arrive at the airport 3 hours before our flight takes off why not do it in comfort..

As for cabs, we have always had great luck with "Red" not sure what his real name is but he is the only cab driver parked in Hedo's actual parking area. All other cabs are parked outside of the gate.. If you ask the girls at the front desk, they will call him over he is normally standing outside his van chatting with people.

As for airport transfer, I have used the very professional drivers at http://luxuriouscaribtours.com They offer a very inexpensive transfer (US$55 for 3 folks one way) with prompt service. They offer refreshments, too.

Just for comparison... we've never used Club Mobay and never felt it was worthwhile. In our last 5 or 6 trips, the total time from deplane to getting in our taxi has ranged from 15-35 min. Seems like Sangster has vastly improved their thruput and staffing in the last few years.

Agreed. Mobay isn't worth the price.

We've seen a few drivers in Hedo's lot over the last couple of years. We typically use our familiar drivers, or grab a cab right outside H2's gate, since the price is roughly double when using H2's drivers.

We ride with Ashton Pitt. Someone here recommended him a couple years ago. He's safe, reliable, great communicator, very knowledgeable of all things Jamaican and can arrange anything your little heart desires.

Thanks for the recommendation, we just booked through them for our trip coming up at the end of the month. Good price and very prompt getting us confirmed. They consistently get five stars on Tripadvisor as well!
