Negril Air strip is about a 2 minute taxi ride to Hedo..Tarzan is waiting with his \taxi there for you...his regular wait spot.

The walking distance is short but there is no sidewalk and given the heat and heavy luggage, I do suggest a taxi. The standard fee is US$5 for the two of you and luggage. Generally, in my experience, there are about 4 taxis waiting in the shade.
Just so you know, there is another air carrier to Negril called International AirLink ( intlairlink.net ); this carrier offers both scheduled and charter flights.
