    Very sad

Construction is risky in its own right -- when you rush and cut corners, it gets MUCH worse. I hope that wasn't the case.

This morning only 5 injuries we reported (thankfully) and the Minister put a stop order on consturction for 30 days.

This quote was part of the article:

"Workers said the project was originally schedule to be completed over a four-year period. However, they alleged that the owners were trying to complete it in 18 months, hence the pouring of concrete at nights with poor visibility."

That just breaks my heart. Glad no one was killed, the injuries could have been far worse.

PhillyGirl22.... sadly, the Latino / Spanish hotel contractors of the past few years (excluding RIU's builders) have a reputation of cutting corners here in Jamaica - this is not the first collapse associated with a non-Jamaican contractor, and I suspect not the last unless the government takes a more serious look at these outfits. I won't stay in a Spanish built hotel in Jamaica for love nor money!!!!!

There's some threads on Tripadvisor which follow the Royalton Negril project. Looks like it will be a behemoth. Totally out of place for the area. And with all the shenanigans reference the permits and the builder, we're glad they put a temporary stop order. Hope everyone is OK.

4 years to 18 months. Disgusting.
Thank god no casualties. Although long hospital stays and missing work may not be much better for these men and their families.

It is my understanding that the smaller Hideway will be adult only (no mention of nudity) while the larger portion will be a family property.
