Best transportation to Negril

Hello everyone,
I am sure this has been chatted about. We are new to the group & are looking for the best taxi or transportation to Negril from Montego Bay. Any help from you all is greatly appreciated.

We ended up not using them on our last trip as our package came with transportation from Sun Holiday. We wish we would have booked rocky's instead. They are very quick, reliable, and its really nice to have your own car.

It's a restaurant in Montego Bay, serves Jamaican stuff like jerk chicken/pork, conch, curries, etc. It's good but Scotchies is better.

Prices are all over the place for transportation to Hedo from the airport. We've used both Sun Travel and a private taxi. The taxi was nice because we could do whatever we wanted in the back of the car for the long ride to Hedo. How much does Rocky charge? Drivers ok if you have a little fun during the long ride?

They charge $70 for up to 4 people and then so much for each after that. And what "fun" are you referring to?

That's a good price. If we weren't so tired from the long flight, we could have had more fun. Let's just say my wife was pretty relaxed by the time we got to Hedo.

thinking outside the box regardless of price, the best way to get to Negril is flying on Tim Air of Airlink. Fifteen minutes flying time a 1 minute cab from aerodrome to the resort. Done it many time. Sit up front and the pilot will let you take controls if you want. If the flight is early ,he might buz the beaches up to Ricks café.

Don't forget the time to get through security at the airport and the time to get to and load the plane. I have known people who took a taxi and beat the small planes

My cabbie hustles me out of the airport and we actually run across the parking lot, toss in the bags and we are off, no stops and he hauls ass where he can and we beat or match Tim Air every year, plus after 12 years of Negril I actually like the ride (although I'd love to see the view from the plane) through the towns and the general anticipation of pulling up to the resort.

Yes, the cabs once in a while, can beat the planes, but with the check-in for both airlines in the main terminal now , it is almost always faster taking the 15 minute plane ride. With that being said , the comfort and view and fun of flying beats the cab ride hands down , regardless of time involved . Unfortunately the costs have risen too much to do the planes on a regular basis and going with value , Rockys is a better value . Ask for the Camry which Rocky himself usually drives.
The view from the air along the coast is amazing and should be done at least once if possible. Please note that Jamaica has the highest per capita road fatalities in the world, and a previous post on this form detailed just such an accident with serious injuries to the hedo guests where hospital stays were required.
