Pretty much anytime is a quiet time at Pearl, it's a pretty sleepy resort. When we were there two years ago in April, they were bringing people over from Desire RM every day because the occupancy was so low and they wanted more people to create a more lively atmosphere.
Pearl is a much more low-key resort than Hedo, or even Desire RM. There's no wild party atmosphere and the average age is higher than any other lifestyle resort we know off. It's way too low key for us, but obviously other people enjoy it. From what I understand Desire's lease on the property is just about up and may not be renewed, there may soon be only one Desire resort left.

Everyone has their own opinion, but we found Desire Pearl to be very comparable to Hedo. At least we felt it was last week. With that being said, the crowd that shows up the same week you are there always dictates how sleepy or how exciting things are. Maybe we lucked out and got a social crowd? I heard that it was only 52% occupancy when we checked in last week. You never would have known it at the hottub. It was rocking and rolling most every time we visited.

We both Love Pearl, the best lifestyle resort we have ever been too. The food is great. The rooms are so much nicer than RM or Hedo. The beach is very nice. The pool is huge. The hot tub is great, love the design. Yes, the night life is a little quite, but we have had a great time when we where there.
We have been to all three, and to be honest, Pearl is like a retirement home... or at least it was when we were there. average age had to be over 60 and the night life was done at 9pm. Desire RM was outstanding, with a young crowd on the week we were there. The party outlasted us every night. Hedo however is in a party class of its own, hard to compare them to be honest. I guess i would say that desire is classier and Hedo is friendlier. Again as was already said, the time you are there can be all the difference in the world depending on groups.
We have been to Hedo but we did not care for it. There were several large groups the week we were there. We found it very busy during the day time but the night time it slowed down and became very click-ish. I guess people were making plans during the day time.
We found the people at Hedo to be very rude and pushy, not very respectable. Plus the food was only average at best. The resort it's self is very old and in need of major renovations. We feel it is a trailer park look and mentality. We are going to try one of the desires next time. At least the resort and food will be better.[/QUOTE
I would be curious about when you went, year and month etc?
Totally agree, the food has gotten significantly better at Hedo under Chef Anthony. In my opinion it's every bit as good as Desire if not better. One thing that Desire does have over Hedo is the level of service in the restaurants is better, the Jamaicans just don't grasp the concept of good customer service.
I recall their trip report....
They went in March. Definitely one of the worst months for groups in my observation over the years. And, they were sick about half of their trip. So judgements on food is probably questionable: who enjoys food with the flu? Plus, when you're sick....well, does anything make you happy?
Hedoshedo50, not trying to diminish your experience. Just frame it with what you previously shared! I hope you have a MUCH better time at desire!
The food was great in August. We can't wait to get some pizza at midnight again in 59 days!!
