    Question about gifts for workers

    Ok so we know the rules about tipping and we occasionally see people bringing school supplies donations and things like that but do any veterans know the rules on gifts for employees? Specifically what we are talking about is a gift for Sunshine and her new baby (our understanding is she is due in February) and a soccer jersey for Austin. Both are people we have really enjoyed talking to on our first two trips and we just want to do something for them. Is something like that acceptable or does Hedo management look at that as if it is the same as a tip?

    Yes you can give a gift as long as it has a description of what it is and your names and room number

    There is never an issue with a "gift" as long as it is has some sort of note with it stating what the gift is, who you are, the dates you are there and room number. Most employees bring the gift and note to Mrs. Grant and she signs off on it..
    Travel with "KITTEN & ANGEL'S SPRING FLING -- wouldn't go with anyone else....

    We are new here and I did not know that there was a strict no tipping rule. So you can not leave a few bucks for anyone, including the bartenders, wait staff, housekeeping? I do not want to see anyone get fired so keep putting ideas for gifts for the hard working employees would be helpful.

    We always tip everyone very well at Hedo as well as bring small gifts and treats, however, the tipping is done discreetly. You will figure it out pretty quickly.

    I always give a tip, if you do it very discrete everybody is happy :-)

    Is tipping allowed at the resort?

    Hedonism II has a NO tipping policy because we believe that this is essential to a carefree, all-inclusive resort experience. This is one of our core policies and we do our best to control this at the resort.

    Three good reasons why we use a NO tipping policy:

    A portion of the room rate you pay includes a gratuity for all our staff members who assure that your stay with us is wonderful every time.
    We want to award our staff members equally, including both those who are in front of our guests and others who may work behind the scenes. All of our staff put in hard work and we want to ensure they are all rewarded equally.
    Most of all, we have created a legendary experience where no guest should feel as though they are required to spend more money in order to receive good service. This way, all guests have the same opportunity to be served equally. We wish for all guests to be treated with the same high standard of service at Hedonism II.

    The current owner, Harry Lange, is adamant about not tipping the staff. Even as a guest, he stated that he never tipped becaue the resort policy was no tipping. A worker can get fired if they are caught accepting a tip. That then goes on their permanent employee record which goes from employer to employer. A firing for cuase is enough to keep someone from ever getting another hospitality job.
